Razer announced the BlackWidow V4 Pro 75% on September 12, 2024, with retail availability reported from September 24. It is a premium wireless 75% mechanical keyboard combining a socketed switch PCB, OLED controls, a Command Dial, and up to 4,000Hz wireless polling. The central question is value: Razer’s US product page listed it from US$299.99 as observed on August 18, 2026, putting it well above the wired BlackWidow V4 75% and many competing wireless 75% boards.
Launch date, price and availability
The product is the Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro 75%. Razer announced it on September 12, 2024; launch coverage reported general availability beginning September 24, 2024. Reported launch pricing was US$299.99 and €349.99. Razer’s US product page still lists it from US$299.99 as observed on August 18, 2026, so this is a 2024 product rather than a new August 2026 launch.
Android Headlines reported the announcement and launch timing, while KitGuru reported availability, European pricing and the battery claim.

A 75% keyboard removes the number pad but keeps the function row, arrow keys and a navigation cluster with Delete, Page Up, Page Down and Insert. It offers more mouse space than a full-size or traditional tenkeyless board without shrinking to a 65% or 60% layout that omits the function row.

Hot-swappable switches: what is supported
The PCB uses sockets, allowing switches to be pulled out and replaced without desoldering. Razer specifies compatibility with most standard 3-pin and 5-pin mechanical switches. The keyboard ships with Razer Orange Tactile Mechanical Switches Gen-3 and includes a combined keycap-and-switch puller. Razer also identifies its Green Clicky and Yellow Linear switches as compatible options on the product page.
That compatibility statement does not mean every switch will work. Optical, magnetic, low-profile and proprietary switches should not be assumed compatible. Before installing a replacement, check the pin layout, socket fit, plate clearance, keycap clearance, LED arrangement and whether the switch is designed for a standard mechanical PCB. Bent pins can stop a key registering or damage a socket; excessive force is especially risky. Razer also warns that damage caused by internal modification is not covered by its warranty.

Razer’s technical manual identifies the bottom case as PCR plastic, while its product FAQ describes it as ABS plastic. Those are different descriptions in Razer’s own documentation and should not be silently combined.

OLED display and Command Dial
The 2-inch OLED can show keyboard status, system information and PC metrics, text banners, static images, custom GIFs, audio-meter visualizations, brightness settings and the currently selected dial mode. Razer says Synapse can store up to 100 Command Dial modes.
The dial can control volume, OLED brightness, RGB brightness, application switching, track selection and playback, track jogging, or user-created Synapse functions. Volume, media and status controls can be practical; animated GIFs are primarily decorative. The screen and lighting also consume more power and add to the keyboard’s price.
Wireless modes and polling
- 2.4GHz HyperSpeed: uses the included Razer HyperPolling Wireless Dongle and is intended for low-latency gaming, with up to 4,000Hz polling.
- Bluetooth 5.1: pairs with up to three devices for switching among a PC, laptop, tablet or other compatible hardware.
- USB-C wired: charges the keyboard and supports use while charging, with up to 1,000Hz polling according to Razer’s manual.
Polling rate describes how often the keyboard reports input; it is not an actuation setting. This is not a Hall-effect or magnetic keyboard, so it does not provide adjustable actuation or rapid-trigger behavior merely because its wireless polling rate is high.

Typing construction and acoustic design
Razer pairs doubleshot PBT keycaps with a gasket-mounted white FR4 plate, Poron gaskets, plate and case foam, and a tape-enhanced PCB. Lubricated screw-in stabilizers, a recycled 5052 aluminum top case and the magnetic leatherette wrist rest round out the build. Razer says the tape treatment is intended to absorb higher-frequency sound, while gasket mounting reduces rigid contact points and potential metallic pinging. These are design choices, not independent proof of a universally superior sound or feel.

KitGuru reported Razer’s claim of up to 2,100 hours in power-saving conditions. In contrast, PCWorld measured about 18 hours with full RGB brightness, OLED animation and 4,000Hz polling enabled. Those figures describe different configurations, not the same workload. Disabling the OLED animation and lighting, lowering polling when practical and using USB-C when the display is a priority will extend runtime.
PCWorld’s 2024 review also reported multi-week use with lighting and display features disabled.

Synapse is central to the feature set
Razer Synapse is required for deeper key remapping, macros, profiles, Chroma RGB, OLED images and GIFs, Command Dial modes, Snap Tap and device settings. Razer’s manual requires Windows 10 64-bit or later and an internet connection for installation.
PCWorld’s 2024 review found device detection, custom OLED GIF programming and some broader settings unreliable, including issues involving another Razer mouse. That is a dated review finding, not proof that Synapse behaves identically in 2026, but buyers who want a simple plug-and-play keyboard should treat the software dependency as a material trade-off.
Who should buy it?
Good reasons to choose it
- You already use Razer Chroma and Synapse.
- You want 2.4GHz gaming wireless plus Bluetooth multi-device support.
- You want to experiment with standard mechanical switches without soldering.
- You specifically value the OLED, Command Dial, RGB, PBT keycaps and bundled wrist rest.
- You want factory-installed foam and gasket construction rather than assembling a board yourself.
Reasons to skip it
- You do not need wireless, an OLED or a dial.
- You want the strongest price-to-performance ratio.
- You want adjustable actuation or rapid trigger.
- You dislike vendor software or want maximum battery life with every feature enabled.
- You need USB passthrough or a number pad.

Verdict
The BlackWidow V4 Pro 75% is an unusually enthusiast-friendly Razer gaming keyboard, but US$299.99 is easiest to justify only when you specifically want its complete bundle: Razer software integration, 2.4GHz wireless, standard hot-swap support, OLED controls, Command Dial, PBT keycaps and acoustic treatment. If you mainly want a good wireless 75% board, or do not care about the screen and dial, the wired BlackWidow V4 75% or a cheaper wireless alternative is the more rational purchase.
