The Razer Kraken V4 Pro is a $399.99 premium wireless gaming headset built around two unusual features: a desktop OLED Control Hub and Sensa HD Haptics. Announced on September 28, 2024, it also supports 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.3, USB and 3.5mm audio, including simultaneous game audio and Bluetooth phone audio. That makes it far more feature-rich than a standard Kraken V4—but its 397g headset weight, high price and sharply reduced battery life with haptics and lighting enabled make it a specialist purchase rather than an automatic upgrade.
Razer continues to list the Kraken V4 Pro at a $399.99 US price signal in its official product-line information. Regional pricing, taxes, discounts and availability can differ.
What makes the Kraken V4 Pro different?
The Kraken V4 Pro is the flagship model in Razer’s Kraken V4 family, above the wireless Kraken V4 and wired Kraken V4 X. Its defining feature is not simply a new driver material or another software surround mode. It is the combination of a physical desktop controller, tactile earcup feedback and unusually broad connectivity.
- OLED Control Hub: a display-equipped desktop station with a clickable control knob and direct audio controls.
- Sensa HD Haptics: tactile feedback in the earcups that follows suitable audio and game effects.
- Four connection modes: 2.4GHz HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth 5.3, USB and 3.5mm analog audio.
- Simultaneous wireless audio: 2.4GHz game audio can be used alongside Bluetooth audio from a phone.

These are Razer’s published specifications, not independent measurements. Driver material, THX branding and marketing terms such as “pro-grade” do not by themselves prove superior sound quality.
The OLED Control Hub is more than a display
The included OLED Control Hub acts as a desktop control surface, connection station and status display. Its clickable knob and physical controls let you make common adjustments without opening Synapse or reaching for small buttons on the headset.
Razer lists direct access to:
- System volume
- EQ selection
- Haptic profile and intensity
- Input-source switching
- Sidetone level
- Chat balance
- Lighting brightness
The hub includes Game, Movie, Music and Custom EQ presets, plus Controlled, Balanced, Dynamic and Custom haptic profiles. Its home screen can show selected system information as well as user-uploaded images, animations, text and GIFs.

It can connect up to three audio sources, although “connected” does not necessarily mean that all three are actively mixed at once. The important simultaneous-audio feature is specifically the ability to use 2.4GHz audio and Bluetooth audio together. The hub also houses the 3.5mm jack, so analog equipment plugs into the desktop station rather than directly into the headset.
What Sensa HD Haptics actually add
Sensa HD Haptics use the earcups to turn suitable audio energy and game events into physical vibration. Explosions, heavy bass and other impactful effects can therefore be felt as well as heard. Razer highlighted games including Hogwarts Legacy and Silent Hill 2 in its launch material.
The benefit is immersion, not automatically better audio fidelity or positional accuracy. Haptics can make a cinematic game feel more dramatic, but they may be distracting in competitive shooters, excessive during music playback or uncomfortable during voice calls. The Control Hub lets you change the profile and intensity, so the feature does not have to remain at maximum strength.

Haptics also create the headset’s largest battery compromise. Razer’s highest battery figure assumes both haptics and lighting are disabled. With both signature features enabled, the stated maximum falls to 13 hours over 2.4GHz.
Audio and microphone features
The headset uses 40mm TriForce Bio-Cellulose drivers and supports THX Spatial Audio. Razer also advertises custom-tuned THX profiles for more than 60 games. Those profiles and spatial processing are customization options, not guarantees of a competitive advantage; some players may prefer stereo output or a manually adjusted EQ.
The retractable HyperClear Super Wideband microphone sits flush when stored, keeping the headset’s appearance clean and making it convenient to deploy for a call or multiplayer session. Razer describes it in high-quality terms, but microphone performance remains dependent on positioning, software settings, the connected platform and the listener’s preference. The supplied evidence does not establish a universal independent ranking for its voice quality.

A practical setup is to connect the gaming device through 2.4GHz, pair a phone over Bluetooth and keep both available. You can then hear game audio while taking a mobile call or using chat on the phone. The exact mixing and switching behavior can vary with the phone, operating system and app, so do not assume every application handles the two streams identically.
Platform compatibility: Xbox needs verification
Razer explicitly lists PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck and mobile devices. Xbox is not included in the headline compatibility list on the cited official product page. That does not prove that no Xbox connection route can ever work, but it does mean Xbox buyers should verify the exact console model, connection method and any required accessories before ordering.
“Four connection modes” should not be confused with universal platform support. Software features can also differ by connection type. Razer’s support documentation identifies THX Spatial Audio as supported on Windows 10 64-bit or later, so console and Bluetooth users should not be promised the same Synapse-based feature set available on Windows.

Battery life: read the conditions

Volume, microphone use, wireless conditions, lighting brightness and haptic intensity can all affect real runtime. The 50-hour figure is therefore best understood as an endurance mode, while the 13-hour figure is the more important caveat for buyers who are purchasing the headset specifically for haptics and RGB lighting.
Weight and comfort trade-offs
At 397g without the Control Hub, the Kraken V4 Pro is a heavy wireless headset. The standard Kraken V4 is listed at 350g and the Kraken V4 X at 310g. The hub is not worn, but it still adds desk space and another cable to the setup.
Clamp pressure, cushion material, head shape and session length will determine whether that weight is acceptable. Buyers who regularly play for many hours, travel with their headset or prioritize minimal fatigue should treat weight as a major buying criterion—not a footnote beneath the OLED display and haptics.

Software dependence and Windows setup
The Control Hub provides useful hardware controls, but advanced customization still depends heavily on Razer Synapse. EQ, game profiles, microphone controls, haptics, RGB settings, THX Spatial Audio and firmware management are among the functions associated with the software ecosystem. Software labels and screens can change, so use the current Razer support documentation for exact menu names and firmware procedures.
For a basic Windows setup:
- Connect the OLED Control Hub to the computer using the included USB connection.
- Connect the headset to the hub as directed in the current master guide.
- In Windows sound settings, select Razer Kraken V4 Pro as the default output and microphone device.
- Open or install Razer Synapse for EQ, THX, haptics, microphone, lighting, profiles and firmware management.
- Use the hub for volume, source selection, chat balance, sidetone and haptic adjustments.

Troubleshooting common problems
- Not detected: check the hub-to-computer and headset connections, then confirm that Windows has selected the Kraken V4 Pro for both playback and recording.
- Battery seems poor: test with haptics and RGB disabled, then compare runtime with the manufacturer’s stated conditions.
- Wireless audio behaves oddly: try a direct wired connection to isolate wireless or source-routing issues.
- OLED, haptics or profiles misbehave: update Synapse and the headset firmware using Razer’s official support channels.
- Still failing: contact Razer support rather than assuming an anecdotal community report represents a universal defect.
Some community posts describe Synapse detection, OLED, haptic-noise, profile and firmware issues, but these are anecdotal reports and do not establish a failure rate.

Is the $399.99 price justified?
The price is easiest to justify when the buyer specifically wants the features that make the Pro model unusual. The OLED Control Hub offers more immediate physical control than a software-only headset, Sensa haptics add tactile immersion, and simultaneous 2.4GHz/Bluetooth audio is genuinely useful for people who combine gaming with phone calls or mobile chat.
The value is weaker if the goal is simply good wireless sound, a reliable microphone and long battery life. At this price, the headset’s weight, 13-hour maximum with haptics and lighting enabled, desk hub, software dependence and unclear Xbox listing become significant compromises. The product also does not cite replaceable or hot-swappable batteries.
Alternatives
Razer Kraken V4
The standard Kraken V4 is the more practical Razer option for many buyers. It is listed at 350g and up to 70 hours with lighting off, but it does not include the OLED Control Hub or Sensa HD Haptics. Choose it if you want a lighter, longer-lasting wireless Kraken rather than the Pro model’s tactile and desktop-control features. See Razer’s Kraken V4 page.
Razer Kraken V4 X
The Kraken V4 X is a 310g wired, lower-cost model with simpler 7.1 surround sound and a cardioid microphone. It suits budget-conscious PC users who do not need wireless operation, haptics or multi-device switching. See Razer’s Kraken V4 X page.
SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless
The Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is a more practical premium alternative for buyers who prioritize active noise cancellation and hot-swappable batteries. Independent comparison coverage cited a $349.99 price, below the Kraken V4 Pro’s launch MSRP, but current pricing should be checked before purchase. It does not replicate Razer’s haptic system or OLED Control Hub.

Corsair’s Virtuoso Max Wireless is worth considering when its official sale price remains substantially below the Kraken’s. Corsair’s indexed US store showed $189.99 against a listed $299.99 original price in the supplied research, but promotional pricing is temporary. Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED
Logitech’s G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED is a relevant alternative for competitive players who want wireless gaming performance and a simpler headset-centered setup. The supplied official results did not provide a reliable current price, so verify the live listing before treating it as a price comparison. Logitech’s gaming-audio range is at Logitech G.
Who should buy the Kraken V4 Pro?
Buy it if you specifically want Sensa haptics, a physical OLED control station, simultaneous game-and-phone audio, broad PC/console/mobile connectivity and Razer’s Synapse/Chroma ecosystem.

For the right buyer, the Kraken V4 Pro is an ambitious immersion and control system. For everyone else, the standard Kraken V4—or a lighter, longer-lasting premium competitor—may be the more sensible choice.
