How to search when a location is empty
Badger spawns are randomized, so an empty visit does not mean the area has permanently failed. Try another listed region, cover the nearby terrain, or allow time for another spawn. The 2024 video guide recommends searching in the evening or at night and suggests saving and reloading if only low-star animals appear; treat these as guide tactics, not guaranteed fixes.
- Begin at Bolder Glades or the rocks behind the Riggs Station Trapper.
- Look across the surrounding ground rather than expecting a badger at one precise map point.
- If the area is empty or only low-quality animals appear, move to one of the Heartlands, Big Valley, or Scarlett Meadows landmarks.
- Return later or allow time for wildlife to respawn before concluding that a location is unproductive.
How to get a perfect badger pelt
Community hunting and crafting guides recommend the Varmint Rifle for a clean badger kill; one Trapper materials guide specifies .22 rounds. First identify a three-star badger. What badger pelts are used for
Badger materials contribute to in-game crafting. A Trapper guide lists an item that requires two perfect badger pelts, and another guide identifies a perfect badger pelt as a hat material.
