It still offers a 6.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, shoulder triggers, a 6,000mAh battery and gaming-focused cooling. But “without sacrificing power” needs a qualification: its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is a generation behind the 10 Pro’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, and its thinner chassis has less thermal headroom. The result is a more portable gaming phone, not a no-compromise replacement for the Pro.
What launched, and when?
REDMAGIC announced the 10 Air on April 17, 2025, positioning it below the REDMAGIC 10 Pro as a thinner, lighter alternative. The China launch price started at 3,499 RMB, according to Android Headlines. It is now an older model, so configuration, price and stock depend on the market and the date you check.
REDMAGIC’s “thinnest gaming phone” description is a category claim. It does not mean the 10 Air is the thinnest smartphone overall.
How thin is the REDMAGIC 10 Air?
At 7.85mm, the 10 Air is about 1.05mm thinner than the 8.9mm REDMAGIC 10 Pro cited in launch coverage. That difference matters in a gaming device, where batteries, speakers, triggers and heat-spreading hardware normally make phones thicker.

Thin does not mean small: the phone has a 6.8-inch display. Its advantage is easier handling and less bulk in a pocket or bag, not one-handed compactness.
What powers it?
The 10 Air uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, paired with REDMAGIC’s RedCore R3 gaming chip, LPDDR5X memory, UFS 4.0 storage and a Qualcomm X75 5G modem. The processor’s prime Cortex-X4 core runs at up to 3.3GHz. These are still high-performance components for demanding Android games.
The important comparison is with the 10 Pro: that model used the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite. The 10 Air therefore preserves the performance level expected from a serious gaming phone, but not the Pro’s absolute top-end silicon. There is no evidence here that the two phones deliver identical frame rates or sustained performance.

How does cooling work in the thinner chassis?
REDMAGIC fits the 10 Air with its ICE-X system, including a nine-layer vapor chamber and liquid-metal thermal interface material. A vapor chamber spreads heat across a larger area; liquid metal improves heat transfer from the chip into that cooling system.

REDMAGIC says the phone reached 45°C after one hour of Genshin Impact, compared with 48°C for a rival device. That is a manufacturer-provided comparison on the official product page, not an independent test.
The thinner body also changes the trade-off. A passive vapor-chamber system can move heat efficiently, but it does not expel heat like an active fan. During long sessions, a phone with less cooling headroom may become hotter, drain its battery faster or reduce sustained frame rates after the initial burst of performance. Independent long-session testing is more useful than a short benchmark when that distinction matters.

What gaming features does it include?
Display
The 6.8-inch AMOLED panel runs at up to 120Hz and has a stated 93.7% screen-to-body ratio. Higher refresh rates make supported games and scrolling look smoother, but a 120Hz panel does not force every game to render at 120 frames per second. Game support, graphics settings, temperature and performance modes remain limiting factors.
Shoulder controls
Two 520Hz shoulder triggers, with RGB lighting, can move aiming, firing, braking or other actions away from the touchscreen. They are particularly useful in shooters, racing games and action titles that support trigger mapping. The response-rate figure describes the controls; it does not guarantee that a game itself responds or renders at that rate.
Audio, vibration and controls
The phone includes an 0815 super-linear vibration motor and DTS-X-certified speakers with Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound tuning. A customizable Magic Key and RGB lighting add shortcuts and visual customization through REDMAGIC’s software.

Battery and charging
The battery is rated at 6,000mAh and wired charging at 80W, capacities listed by REDMAGIC at its official product page. That is a large battery for a 7.85mm phone, but capacity alone cannot establish real-world endurance. Brightness, frame rate, cellular signal, game engine, temperature and performance mode all change gaming runtime.
Check the regional package before buying: the global listing shows a power adapter, but charger inclusion and charging accessories can vary by market.
Cameras and everyday-phone features
The rear camera system combines a 50MP main camera with a 50MP ultrawide; the front camera is 16MP. REDMAGIC also lists Google Gemini support. These specifications do not establish image quality, stabilization, autofocus, low-light results or video performance. Camera processing and long-term software support require independent evaluation.

As with many gaming phones, the 10 Air’s design priorities are performance tuning, controls, battery capacity and cooling. Buyers who value camera consistency, mainstream software polish, wireless charging, long update commitments or guaranteed carrier support should weigh those priorities separately.

Accessories that address its compromises
REDMAGIC lists a protective case, cooling protective case, screen protector, VC Cooler 5 Pro, VC Cooler 6 Pro, VC Cooler 6 and VC Cooler 6 Air for the 10 Air. Its Shadow Blade Gamepad 2/3 can suit controller-supported games, emulation and cloud gaming. A Rock Magnetic Bluetooth Speaker is also listed. Prices were not established in the available store information.

Bottom line
The REDMAGIC 10 Air is a legitimate slim gaming phone: 7.85mm thick, feature-rich and still powerful enough for demanding Android games. Its compromise is clear rather than hidden. Compared with the 10 Pro, it uses an older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and a thinner cooling envelope. Buy it for portability, triggers, a large display and sale pricing—not on the assumption that it matches the fastest REDMAGIC hardware in sustained performance.
