The REDMAGIC 9 Pro+ Bumblebee Edition is real, but it is not a new 2026 launch. REDMAGIC announced the Transformers-themed gaming phone in late March 2024 as a China-market limited edition based on the REDMAGIC 9 Pro+. It combined the phone’s gaming hardware with Bumblebee styling, themed accessories and a reported launch price of CNY 6,499—about $900 at the time.
What was announced?
Reports from Android Headlines and Wccftech identified the product as the REDMAGIC 9 Pro+ Bumblebee Edition. It continued REDMAGIC’s earlier 8S Pro+ Bumblebee collaboration rather than introducing a new chipset or phone generation.
The special edition used the China-market REDMAGIC 9 Pro+ as its platform. The Transformers treatment was primarily visual and in-the-box: the reported configuration and gaming features were those of the underlying 9 Pro+ rather than exclusive performance upgrades.
Bumblebee design and reported box contents
The phone was presented in a predominantly Bumblebee-yellow finish with black camera-strip treatment, black accents and Transformers branding on the rear. REDMAGIC’s familiar RGB lighting remained part of the design, making it considerably louder and more collectible than a standard 9 Pro+.

Contemporary coverage reported a Bumblebee-themed package containing:
- a custom protective case;
- a detachable cooling fan;
- a Bumblebee-themed SIM-eject tool;
- a Bumblebee badge or emblem;
- a themed charger; and
- a special software theme or boot/interface treatment.
Those accessories are reported contents, not a currently verifiable international store bundle. A used listing should be checked against its original box and documentation rather than assumed complete.

Regional warning: do not copy these figures onto every REDMAGIC 9 Pro. REDMAGIC’s international 9 Pro materials describe a related but distinct regional configuration with a 6,500mAh battery, 80W charging in that sales context, built-in active cooling and a 22,000 RPM fan. The international 9 Pro announcement and the China-market 9 Pro+ Bumblebee reports should be treated separately.
Why gamers noticed it
The underlying REDMAGIC platform was built around sustained gaming rather than a Transformers-specific performance advantage. Relevant features included a high-refresh-rate display, active cooling, gaming software, RGB lighting, a large battery and 520Hz touch-sensitive shoulder triggers. The Bumblebee branding does not make the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 faster. Its appeal is the combination of a recognizable character design and flagship-class gaming hardware in a limited package.
Price and availability
The reported Chinese launch price was CNY 6,499. Contemporary articles converted that to roughly $900, but that was an approximate exchange-rate comparison—not a confirmed U.S. retail price. Import shipping, tax, duties, reseller markup and warranty costs would change the final amount.

Reports described the release as China-focused, with no confirmed international rollout. As of August 18, 2026, the official international REDMAGIC catalogue does not list the Bumblebee Edition. It emphasizes newer 10- and 11-series phones, while the standard 9 Pro is shown as sold out. That makes the Bumblebee model a discontinued or collector-market device rather than a normal current flagship.

- Hardware platform: both are from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 generation, but regional 9 Pro+ and international 9 Pro specifications are not interchangeable.
- Configuration: reports put the Bumblebee Edition at 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
- Design: the yellow-and-black housing, Transformers branding, lighting treatment and themed package are the major differentiators.
- Value: collectors may pay for the design, completeness and packaging; gamers gain no documented Bumblebee-exclusive performance upgrade.
Should you buy one in 2026?
For Transformers collectors
It can be an attractive collectible if the phone is authentic, complete and in good condition. Scarcity alone does not establish a fixed production run or a guaranteed resale premium; no verified unit count is provided in the available reports.

For mobile gamers
A newer, officially supported REDMAGIC model is usually the safer practical purchase. Current phones are easier to source, and warranty coverage, replacement parts, software support and network compatibility matter more than the Bumblebee exterior.
For buyers importing from China
Check local network bands, VoLTE and 5G support, Google Play availability and certification, firmware region, charger plug, warranty territory, return costs and import duties. A China-market phone may require compromises even when the hardware is genuine.
Used-listing authenticity checklist
- Confirm the exact model is the 9 Pro+ Bumblebee Edition, not a regular 9 Pro in a third-party yellow case.
- Request clear photos of the original yellow-and-black rear housing, Transformers marks and RGB elements.
- Compare the original box, documentation, accessories and serial or IMEI information.
- Ask for the firmware version and bootloader state; modified software can affect updates and Google services.
- Verify that the seller accepts returns and can demonstrate network compatibility in your country.
- Price the complete package separately from the phone itself: missing fan, charger, case or packaging can materially reduce collector value.
Bottom line
The REDMAGIC 9 Pro+ Bumblebee Edition was a genuine 2024 Transformers collaboration, launched in China at CNY 6,499 and reported with 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, a 120Hz display, 5,500mAh battery and 165W charging. In 2026 it should be viewed as a collector-market import, not a currently available global REDMAGIC model. Buy it for the Bumblebee design and complete package; choose a newer official REDMAGIC phone for support and everyday gaming practicality.
