Geekbench listings for REDMAGIC’s pre-launch Gaming Pad reported a 3.40GHz peak CPU frequency on the larger apparent model. That was a strong clue, not proof of its processor at the time. REDMAGIC later confirmed that the globally launched tablet, the Nova Gaming Tablet, uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version with a CPU frequency of up to 3.4GHz.
What the Geekbench listings showed
In a report published August 28, 2024, Android Headlines described two Geekbench 6 listings associated with REDMAGIC’s upcoming Gaming Pad. The larger apparent model had the higher scores and a reported 3.40GHz maximum; a second listing showed lower scores and a 3.19GHz maximum. The numbers were clues about CPU performance and configuration, not confirmation of final retail products. Android Headlines’ original Geekbench report and 4PDA’s follow-up reported the figures below.

A Geekbench entry can report a device’s processor identification, core configuration, memory clues, and burst CPU performance. Its frequency field is not a guarantee that the chip runs at that speed continuously, and scores are sensitive to software, power limits, and test conditions.
Why 3.4GHz pointed toward the faster Snapdragon
The regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s prime Cortex-X4 core is associated with a maximum frequency around 3.3GHz. A 3.40GHz reading therefore fit the later Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version, which REDMAGIC specified for the Nova. But the benchmark alone could not prove the commercial chip: a listing may be mislabeled, come from engineering hardware, or record a configured maximum rather than a sustained clock.

The strongest evidence came later from REDMAGIC itself. Its official Nova specifications name the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version, with CPU frequency up to 3.4GHz and GPU frequency up to 1GHz. That confirms the central clock-speed clue for the launched Nova, not necessarily every apparent pre-launch listing.
How the scores compared with REDMAGIC phones
Android Headlines compared the higher Gaming Pad result with its REDMAGIC 9 Pro results: 2,299 single-core and 7,174 multi-core. The tablet listing’s 2,268 and 7,120 were close, supporting the interpretation that it used Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-class silicon. The lower listing likewise resembled the publication’s ROG Phone 7 Ultimate results of 2,051 single-core and 5,764 multi-core.

These are comparisons between reported Geekbench results, not controlled gaming tests. Similar CPU scores do not establish identical frame rates or long-session performance: cooling, firmware, power limits, screen resolution, and game optimization all affect what happens outside a short benchmark.
What the 3.19GHz listing did—and did not—establish
The second listing’s 3.19GHz peak and scores near those reported for an older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone made that chip a plausible explanation. They did not confirm a smaller Nova variant. Geekbench alone could not establish whether the entries represented two planned retail tablets, different configurations, or test devices. The available official Nova specifications confirm the 3.4GHz Leading Version for the launched product; they do not settle the slower listing’s commercial identity.

What a peak clock says about gaming
Peak frequency is a ceiling under suitable conditions, not a promise about every core or every moment of play. It is useful to separate four different measures:
- Peak frequency: the maximum advertised or observed CPU-core speed.
- Short benchmark performance: the burst CPU work Geekbench measures.
- Sustained performance: how well a device maintains output during prolonged load, which depends in part on thermal and power limits.
- Game performance: actual frame rates and stability, shaped by GPU load, resolution, software optimization, cooling, and the game itself.
REDMAGIC equipped the Nova with an internal fan and 3D heat pipe, and positioned it for gaming. Those features provide relevant cooling context, but neither a clock-speed listing nor one benchmark score demonstrates that the tablet avoids throttling or sustains a particular frame rate.

Later testing added a GPU and memory snapshot
A later Notebookcheck report covered an AnTuTu result of 2,205,110 for a higher-end Gaming Pad configuration reported with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The breakdown was 466,697 CPU, 948,310 GPU, 386,373 UX, and 403,730 memory. This adds a broader snapshot than Geekbench’s CPU-focused figures, but it remains one benchmark run—not a sustained thermal evaluation or a measure of performance in specific games.

From Gaming Pad to REDMAGIC Nova
“Gaming Pad” was the name used in the pre-launch benchmark coverage; the global product became the REDMAGIC Nova Gaming Tablet. REDMAGIC’s global launch article, dated October 16, 2024, announced that the Nova had reached the market and identified its chip as the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version used by the REDMAGIC 9S Pro. Its official specifications paired the processor with a 10.9-inch 2.8K display, a 144Hz refresh rate, a 10,100mAh battery, 80W charging, and 12GB/256GB or 16GB/512GB configurations. REDMAGIC also published later emulation-focused material specifying the same 3.4GHz CPU peak. That reinforces the official specification, but marketing material and a peak clock still do not substitute for independent long-duration game testing.
Availability context for buyers
As of August 18, 2026, REDMAGIC’s global Nova product page listed the tablet at $499 but marked it sold out, and pointed visitors toward the newer REDMAGIC Astra Gaming Tablet, which launched July 1, 2025.
