In FC 27, the closest match to a footballing regista is the Deep-Lying Playmaker role. “Regista” is a useful tactical analogy, not the role name shown in the inspected FC 27 listings. It describes a midfielder who starts deeper, helps connect defence to midfield and initiates attacks; the chosen Focus determines how much that player holds position or moves forward.
What the Regista role is called in FC 27
Look for Deep-Lying Playmaker in the FC 27 role listings, rather than Regista. The role is listed for both central midfielder (CM) and defensive midfielder (CDM) positions. The exact focus options shown vary by position listing, so check the role menu for the position and player you are using. WeFUT’s FC 27 role reference describes the role as a deep midfielder who helps build attacks from the back.
EA’s FC 25 FC IQ explanation gave the role-system description: “This defensively positioned midfielder is the key cog to building up play from the back and will often be the catalyst for attacks.” That is prior-edition wording, not an FC 27-specific definition; the FC 27 role listing corroborates its central idea of a deep build-up player. How positioning changes with Focus
Focus adjusts how the Deep-Lying Playmaker behaves within its role. The listed descriptions make the main trade-off clear: keeping a player deeper offers more defensive support, while greater movement or forward positioning can open passing options at the cost of cover.

Defend: stay deeper and protect space
In the CDM listing, Defend emphasizes staying back while the team attacks and closing passing lanes. This is the more conservative choice when you want a deep distributor to help protect the space in front of the back line. Roaming: move to find passing options
The CDM listing describes Roaming as allowing movement across the pitch to support attacks and become a passing option. The trade-off is that the player can be pulled out of position. Choose it when you value flexibility and have teammates able to cover the central space the midfielder leaves; do not assume that every position listing offers this Focus.

Build-Up: advance to support attacks
Build-Up moves the player forward to provide a passing option and support attacks. The role references identify reduced defensive support as the cost. This makes it a more progressive outlet than a fixed screen in front of the defence, and it can leave more responsibility for protecting that space to another midfielder or your team shape. Build-Up appears in the CM and CDM references, but verify availability in the live game.

How it compares with other midfield roles

Choose by the job your midfield needs. If you want a distributor who also holds a deeper line, Deep-Lying Playmaker with Defend is the clearest fit in the descriptions. If guarding the back line is the priority, Holding is the more direct option. If you want a roaming creator, Playmaker fits that intent but carries the stated counter-positioning risk. Centre Half is the structural alternative when you want an extra player to drop into the defence in possession. None is universally superior.
