If a video in Restream Studio stops after one play, turn on Loop in that video’s playback controls. If you scheduled a pre-recorded event, set its loop count when creating or editing the event. A playlist cannot loop as a playlist in Restream: duplicate its entries in the order you want instead. If the entire live stream ends, check the incoming stream connection rather than the video’s loop setting.
First identify which Restream workflow you are using
The fix depends on whether the video is a Studio source, a scheduled pre-recorded event, or part of a playlist. A stream that ends after its input disconnects is a separate problem.
| What you set up | How looping works | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Video source in Restream Studio | Each cloud or local video has its own Loop playback control. | Open the video’s playback controls and enable Loop. Restream Studio video instructions. |
| Scheduled pre-recorded single-video event | Set a loop count, up to 10 plays; Restream currently lists Marathon and Media add-on plans for looping. | Edit the event and check that the account plan includes the feature. Restream’s looping instructions. |
| Scheduled playlist | Playlists do not loop as a playlist. | Duplicate entries in the desired order, up to 40 total entries and 24 hours in playlist duration. Restream playlist instructions. |
| RTMP/SRT input disconnect | Disconnect protection can play a fallback video for a configured window; it does not make the original source loop. | Check the source connection and protection settings. Restream disconnect-protection instructions. |
Make a video source loop in Restream Studio
For a video stored in Restream
- In Studio, add a scene and choose Media, then Video.
- Select a video from Restream storage, or upload one.
- Place the video source in the scene, open its playback controls, and switch on Loop.
- Play the source and confirm it starts again when it reaches the end.
Restream allows one video from storage to play at a time. Its Studio guide describes the playback controls, including play and pause, seeking, looping from the beginning, volume, and hiding or replacing the source: Play videos on your stream in Studio.
For a video on your computer
- In Studio, add a scene and select Media.
- Select the plus icon, choose Local video, and open the file.
- Open that video’s playback controls and enable Loop.
Local video playback uses your computer’s resources. Restream says local video is free for all users, recommends Chrome, and advises using a powerful computer for optimal results. If playback stutters or the device cannot keep up, try a video from Restream storage instead. See Restream’s local-video instructions.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check source and output quality
Restream says the outgoing Studio stream retains the video’s original quality, although the preview may appear at lower quality to reduce performance demands. Make the source resolution appropriate for the Studio output: a 4K source used with a 720p stream may be reduced in quality. A mismatch can affect how the video looks, but it is separate from whether Loop is enabled. Details: Restream Studio video instructions.
Set a loop count for a scheduled pre-recorded event
When creating the event
- Choose Pre-recorded livestream and select Video.
- Choose or upload the video, then enter the event details and schedule.
- Enable the optional loop-count setting and choose the number of plays, up to 10.
- Save the event. It airs automatically at the scheduled time.
Restream’s looping article says looping is a paid feature and its current scheduling documentation lists Marathon and Media add-on plans for it. If the loop option is missing, check the account’s current plan and the event controls; plan names and availability can change. See the looping guide and the pre-recorded event guide.

When the event already exists
- From the Restream Home screen, open the event’s three-dot menu.
- Select Edit event.
- Edit the event date/time settings, including its loop count, then save.
- Check the event card for the displayed loop quantity.
Restream notes that some destinations, including TikTok and Instagram, may require you to click Go Live on the destination platform after Restream starts the broadcast. The scheduled video and the destination’s separate go-live requirement are distinct from the loop count. See Schedule your video as a pre-recorded event.
Repeat a playlist by duplicating its entries
Restream’s current documentation says playlists do not support looping. Instead, duplicate the videos in the sequence you want, up to 40 entries total. For instance, to repeat A, B, C, arrange the playlist as A, B, C, A, B, C, continuing only as far as the 40-entry limit. The playlist can be up to 24 hours long, so check both limits against the intended broadcast length.

Playlist contents can be added, removed, or reordered only before the playlist goes live. Restream lists playlists under its Upload & Stream Marathon or Media add-on tiers. If you need to mix live and prerecorded segments, Restream points to Studio video sources rather than a playlist. See Create and stream a playlist of videos.
If the entire live stream goes offline
A video reaching its end is not the same as an RTMP/SRT input disconnecting. For source drops, Restream’s disconnect-protection feature can play a fallback video for a selected 5, 15, or 30 minutes. It requires a Business or custom Enterprise plan and must be configured before going live. If the source reconnects within the selected window, the fallback stops and the live feed resumes. If it does not reconnect before the window ends, the destination streams end and a new stream must be started. The default fallback is described as a 17-second video that loops during the configured window. See Set up stream disconnect protection.

Separate the likely causes
- Only the video stops: check the Studio source’s Loop control or the scheduled event’s loop count.
- A playlist finishes: duplicate entries before it goes live; playlist looping itself is unsupported.
- The whole live output ends: check whether the input disconnected, the scheduled event ended, or disconnect protection reached its configured timeout.
Restream’s documentation does not identify the cause of a particular account’s failure, so do not assume a platform outage or bug from the symptom alone.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Check the uploaded file if a scheduled video will not behave as expected
For scheduled pre-recorded uploads, Restream lists these mandatory requirements: MP4, MOV, M4V, or MKV container; H.264 video encoding; AAC audio; and keyframe interval 2. It recommends Full HD 1080p at 30 or 60 FPS and constant bitrate where appropriate. Recommended bitrate depends on the destination platform. Restream also recommends adding 15–20 seconds at the start and end so destinations have time to process the incoming stream. These upload recommendations are not a substitute for the loop-count setting, and Restream does not say that failing an optional recommendation disables looping. See Requirements for pre-recorded videos.

Can I loop a video source in Studio while streaming from OBS?
The Studio playback controls apply to video sources added in Restream Studio; they do not configure a separate OBS media source.
