Verdict: The HyperX Cloud MIX Rose Gold Edition remains a comfortable, well-built hybrid headset for wired gaming plus Bluetooth everyday listening. Its detachable boom microphone and strong wired sound still hold up, but Bluetooth is not a substitute for a modern low-latency gaming connection. Micro-USB charging, one-device Bluetooth pairing, an underwhelming onboard mic, and the risks of buying a 2019 headset make the Rose Gold model worth considering only at a substantial discount—or when its white-and-rose-gold design is the main attraction.
What the Rose Gold Edition actually is
This is a 2019 color variant of the original HyperX Cloud MIX, not a new generation. The white chassis and padding are accented by rose-gold earcup connectors and HyperX logos. Contemporary coverage describes the underlying functionality as unchanged: there is no new wireless standard, driver revision, microphone system, or software feature specific to this edition. “Limited edition” was used for its contemporary availability, but current production or discontinuation status is not established.
Do not confuse it with the Cloud II, Cloud Alpha, Cloud Flight, or Cloud III. The Cloud MIX is unusual because it combines a conventional 3.5mm gaming headset with direct Bluetooth headphone use.

Design, fit, and portability
Reviewers praised the metal adjustment arms and premium-feeling construction. The understated white-and-rose-gold finish looks less overtly “gamer” than RGB-equipped models. There is no lighting.

Reported weight is approximately 260g without the boom microphone and 275g with it. Memory-foam earcups and a padded headband make long sessions comfortable for many users, although closed-back pads can become warm. Fit is adjustable at the earcup arms, and comfort reports vary: one reviewer noted ear fatigue, while another found it highly comfortable. At least one assessment described the cups as resting partly on the ears rather than fully surrounding them, so buyers with larger ears or a strong preference for roomy circumaural cups should check the fit and return policy.
Removing the boom mic makes the headset easier to carry and less conspicuous outdoors. White plastic and padding may show dirt or discoloration more visibly over years of use; treat that as an ownership precaution, not a documented universal defect.
Wired and Bluetooth operation
Wired mode
The detachable 3.5mm cable is the Cloud MIX’s best mode for gaming. The shorter single-plug cable works with laptops, phones, tablets, controllers, and compatible consoles. On a desktop with separate headphone and microphone sockets, use the included 2m PC extension, whose two 3.5mm plugs carry audio and boom-mic signals separately. That extra length can leave slack and may brush clothing or furniture.

Attach the detachable noise-cancelling boom microphone for the clearest chat. Wired operation avoids Bluetooth latency and codec restrictions, and no software is required for basic use.
Bluetooth mode
Pair directly with a Bluetooth-enabled phone, tablet, computer, or other compatible source; no USB dongle is included or required. Bluetooth uses the headset’s built-in microphone, not the detachable boom. It is a sensible mode for music, video, calls, commuting, and casual games, but not the preferred choice for latency-sensitive competitive play. Tom’s Hardware reported pairing with one device at a time, so switching between a phone and PC requires manual disconnection and reconnection rather than seamless multipoint.
Bluetooth headset support on consoles varies by platform and operating system. A device supporting Bluetooth does not guarantee both game audio and microphone chat on every PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, or mobile configuration. Wired controller use is the more dependable console scenario.

PC and console setup
- Desktop PC: connect the headset cable to the PC extension, then put the headphone plug in the headphone output and the microphone plug in the mic input. Confirm the correct input is selected in the operating system.
- Laptop or controller: use the single-plug 3.5mm cable in the combined headset jack.
- Console: use a compatible controller headset jack for the most reliable audio and chat path. Check the console’s Bluetooth policy before attempting wireless pairing.
- Bluetooth source: put the headset into pairing mode according to its controls, select it in the source’s Bluetooth menu, and remember that only the onboard mic is available in this mode.
If a PC detects sound but no microphone, recheck that both extension plugs are in the correct ports. If games sound delayed, switch from Bluetooth to 3.5mm.

Sound quality
Contemporary listening tests describe a bass-forward but generally controlled presentation, with clear mids and highs and good separation in games, music, and films. The 40mm dual-chamber neodymium driver design was associated with better bass control in reviews. Wired sound is consistently judged crisper than Bluetooth sound.
These are subjective review findings, not laboratory measurements. The stated 10Hz–40kHz frequency response and “40mm neodymium” specification do not, by themselves, prove audible hi-res superiority—especially over Bluetooth. One review found maximum volume somewhat quiet. Virtual 7.1, where available through the reviewed setup, is processing you may or may not prefer; it is not an automatic competitive advantage.

Microphone performance
The detachable boom is the microphone to use for gaming. Reviews generally found it clear and natural for voice chat, with noise reduction that helps conversation. It is not a broadcast microphone, and cable movement can transmit handling noise.
The built-in Bluetooth microphone is convenient for calls but captures more ambient sound and is less suitable for gaming chat. One review also noted the lack of microphone monitoring (sidetone), so you cannot rely on hearing your own voice through the headset.

Battery and charging
HyperX quoted up to 20 hours of battery life. Tom’s Hardware found roughly 20 hours achievable at reduced volume, while louder listening could bring practical runtime to 10 hours or less. Treat 20 hours as a maximum claim, not a guarantee.
Charging uses Micro USB, not USB-C, and the supplied cable was criticized for being only about 0.5m (1.6ft) long. In 2026, an older battery is a major used-buying variable: ask for a runtime test rather than assuming the original figure remains achievable.

What has aged badly
- Micro USB: inconvenient beside current USB-C devices.
- No 2.4GHz gaming wireless: Bluetooth does not deliver the same latency or platform behavior as a dedicated gaming dongle.
- No multipoint: regular phone/PC switchers must reconnect manually.
- Older battery and parts: used units may have degraded cells, worn pads, missing cables, or intermittent connectors.
- Limited current availability: contemporary prices are not current-market guarantees.
Buying used or old stock in 2026
Before paying, verify the detachable boom mic, 1.3m 3.5mm cable, 2m PC extension, and Micro USB charging cable are included. Test both channels while moving the detachable cable, confirm Bluetooth pairing and stable playback, make a call using the onboard mic, and request a battery-runtime demonstration. Inspect ear pads, adjustment arms, charging-port fit, and the white finish. A return window matters because battery health cannot be inferred from appearance.

Who should buy it?
- Buy it if the white-and-rose-gold finish matters, you mostly game through 3.5mm, and Bluetooth is for music, calls, or travel.
- Skip it if you need competitive wireless gaming, USB-C, multipoint, a reliable Bluetooth chat mic, or modern long-battery convenience.
- Do not pay anything close to the historical approximately $199.99 launch price. Contemporary coverage also reported a later $139.99 price, but neither figure is a current Rose Gold quote.
The Cloud MIX Rose Gold’s central compromise is straightforward: it offers good wired gaming and convenient Bluetooth in one attractive package, but it is not the best modern wireless gaming headset or the best current Bluetooth headphone. Price, condition, and your attachment to the design should decide the purchase.
