Choose Steep if you want a focused Alps experience centered on skiing, snowboarding, wingsuiting and paragliding. Choose Riders Republic if you want biking alongside winter sports and a wider range of organized multiplayer events. Ubisoft’s published feature lists support that distinction, but they do not establish an objective winner.
Steep or Riders Republic: what is the main difference?
Steep is built around mountain sports in an open-world Alps setting. Ubisoft lists skiing, snowboarding, wingsuiting and paragliding. Riders Republic is presented as a broader open-world sports playground; its listed activities include biking, skiing, snowboarding and wingsuiting. Paragliding is the clearest listed reason to choose Steep, while biking is the clearest listed reason to choose Riders Republic.

How do their sports and multiplayer compare?
| Decision point | Steep | Riders Republic |
|---|---|---|
| Officially listed sports | Skiing, snowboarding, wingsuiting and paragliding. | Biking, skiing, snowboarding and wingsuiting. |
| Setting and focus | Open-world Alps mountain sports. | A broader open-world extreme-sports playground. |
| Multiplayer information | Ubisoft describes playing alone or with friends; the cited page gives no comparable current population figure. | Ubisoft lists downhill races, team-vs-team competition, PvP events and mass races. It advertises cross-play and cross-progression. |
Ubisoft advertises more than 50 simultaneous players on next-generation systems and 20+ on current-generation systems for Riders Republic. These are generation-specific capacity figures on Ubisoft’s game page, not counts of players online now. The page does not provide a matching capacity figure for Steep, so the numbers should not be treated as a direct population comparison. See Ubisoft’s Riders Republic page.

Which game is the better fit for what you want?
Choose Steep for a focused mountain trip
- You mainly want skiing, snowboarding and wingsuiting in an Alps setting.
- You specifically want paragliding, which appears on Steep’s official sport list.
- You prefer a mountain-sports focus over a larger mix of activities.
Choose Riders Republic for biking and event variety
- You want biking as well as skiing, snowboarding and wingsuiting.
- You are drawn to downhill races, team competition, PvP events or mass races.
- You want the game whose official page advertises cross-play and cross-progression.
Players sometimes describe Steep as more atmospheric or Riders Republic as more arcade-like, but those are subjective impressions, not measured differences. Opinions in a recent player discussion conflict; use them as preference cues rather than a consensus or benchmark. Neither game’s cited official pages establish a controlled comparison of graphics, realism, handling or performance.
