The Nintendo game is Ring Fit Adventure, a Nintendo Switch fitness adventure in which real exercises become controls for exploring and battling a bodybuilding dragon and his minions. Squats are one of several moves used in the game—not the only way to fight.
How exercise controls work
The game comes with a Ring-Con and a Leg Strap. Nintendo says these accessories detect or measure movements and translate them into game actions. Jog in place to travel through levels, use exercises such as squats and presses to attack, and perform yoga poses to restore health. Nintendo Support also lists twists among the movement examples.

Squats have uses beyond combat: Nintendo’s US product listing describes squat-powered launch pads and a pottery-making minigame controlled with squats.
What else is in the adventure?
Nintendo’s US listing describes more than 100 levels across over 20 worlds, alongside minigames and customizable workout routines. Nintendo’s UK product page separately lists more than 60 in-game exercises and 12 minigames; those are figures from that regional page.

Nintendo describes the premise as an adventure to “defeat a bodybuilding dragon and his minions using real-life exercises!” The official descriptions explain the gameplay and available routines; they do not establish clinical fitness outcomes or promise specific health benefits.

Nintendo lists the physical Nintendo Switch edition’s release date as October 18, 2019, so “new” does not describe its release date today. The Ring-Con and Leg Strap are included with the game.
