Roblox’s creator avatar bundles are no longer merely “coming soon.” Roblox announced avatar merchandising in August 2024 and began letting eligible creators curate and sell full looks in Marketplace on November 5, 2024. The feature is for complete avatar looks assembled from existing items—not a single newly merged asset—and Roblox’s original rules did not give a curator a separate fee just for assembling one.
What Roblox calls avatar merchandising
Roblox’s feature lets eligible creators curate a full avatar look for Marketplace discovery. A look can combine a body and head with clothing and accessories, using items the curator published or items from other creators. The components remain individual Marketplace items; the curated look presents them together rather than turning them into one new asset. Roblox described the planned feature in its August 26, 2024 announcement, then detailed the launch as avatar merchandising.
That distinction matters to both creators and buyers: a listing can make a coordinated outfit easier to discover and assemble, but it does not establish a universal discount or guarantee that every component will always remain available.
When it launched—and what “soon” referred to
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| April 15, 2024 | Roblox expanded Marketplace item creation and selling to more eligible creators beyond the former invite-only UGC model. See Roblox’s access announcement. |
| August 26, 2024 | Roblox said creator-curated full avatar bundles were planned for the coming months in its newsroom announcement. |
| November 5, 2024 | Eligible creators could begin curating and selling complete avatars in Marketplace, according to the launch post. |
| 2026 | Roblox continued developing avatar commerce, including separate creator animation-pack features and other roadmap items. A roadmap or pilot does not by itself mean every feature is generally available; see Roblox’s avatar-creator update. |
So the old “will soon open” framing belongs to 2024. By August 2026, the useful question is how avatar merchandising works, who can use it, and how it differs from newer or unrelated bundle products.

Who can create and sell curated looks?
At the November 2024 launch, Roblox said creators needed to be eligible to publish and sell in Marketplace, have ID verification, be at least 13, hold Roblox Premium 1000 or 2200, follow Marketplace Policies and Community Standards, and have published at least one Roblox item. Roblox said it planned to expand access, but the launch post did not give a date for universal availability. Those are launch-era requirements, not a verified statement of every current rule.
Roblox announced a different, unified framework for publishing 2D and 3D avatar items effective July 14, 2026. It lists ID verification or a linked parent account, 2-step verification for selling, and an active Plus or Premium subscription among the requirements. Creators should check the current policy and account eligibility in Roblox’s Marketplace publishing update rather than assume the 2024 Premium tiers still define access to every feature.

How the original posting flow worked
Roblox’s launch instructions placed avatar curation in the mobile and desktop apps, not on the web. The documented flow was:
- Open Marketplace in the Roblox mobile or desktop app.
- Select the + button in the upper-right corner.
- Use Avatar Composer to assemble a body, head, clothing, and accessories.
- Post the curated avatar, then share its direct Marketplace link.
The launch post set an initial limit of 200 posted avatars per creator. That is a historical launch limit; the cited announcement does not establish whether it remains current. Web support likewise was absent at launch, and current availability is not confirmed by that launch documentation.

Who earns from a sale?
Under the launch rules, earnings from a purchase went to the creators of the original component items, as if those items had been purchased individually. A person who merely assembled and posted a look did not receive an extra avatar-posting fee. A curator can therefore provide merchandising and discovery value without automatically earning from someone else’s items; they earn as an item creator when their own included item sells.
Roblox’s July 14, 2026 Marketplace update lists a 30% creator share for ordinary Marketplace item sales under unified economics. For purchases inside experiences, it lists 30% for the item creator and 40% for the experience owner. Those general item-sale rates should not be treated as a special commission for avatar curation or applied to every bundle category without a Roblox statement specifying that treatment.

Launch limitations and practical checks
Roblox’s 2024 launch documentation described several constraints. These are launch-era terms; the available announcements do not establish that each still applies unchanged in August 2026.
- Include clothing or an accessory: A look needed at least one clothing or accessory item, so it was more than a body-and-head listing.
- R15 and R6: Curation initially required switching to an R15 body. R6 bodies could be used for clothing and accessories, but not for curating the avatar in the same way.
- Animations: Animation items were excluded from avatar curation at launch.
- Sales reporting: There was no separate avatar-sales analytics dashboard; creators were told to track sales of the underlying items.
- Other creators’ items: A creator could not initially prevent another curator from featuring their items in a look.
- Item availability: Because a look is assembled from component items, a component that becomes unavailable or cannot be sold can affect whether the intended outfit can be purchased as presented.
For a current publishing decision, verify the account’s eligibility and the current composer options, then check that every component is live and compatible with the intended avatar. The launch instructions alone do not establish today’s web support, cap, or all compatibility rules.

What changed in Marketplace publishing in July 2026
The 2026 unified publishing framework is separate from the 2024 avatar-merchandising launch, but it affects creators who publish component items. Roblox’s announcement, effective July 14, 2026, lists an 80 Robux upload cost for both 2D and 3D avatar items and a 10 Robux publishing advance for 2D items. It also describes an active Plus or Premium subscription and verification-related requirements for publishing or selling. These are platform publishing costs and eligibility rules, not a fee charged specifically for assembling a curated avatar.
Creators should account for those costs before producing many experimental items: the article’s cited announcement does not establish subscription pricing, and the economics of a Marketplace item sale differ from an in-experience transaction. Consult the full Roblox update for the operative terms.
Quick Recap
These Roblox bundle products are not interchangeable
| Product or system | What it does | How it differs from avatar merchandising |
|---|---|---|
| Curated avatar / avatar merchandising | A creator presents a complete avatar look in Marketplace, assembled from avatar items. See the launch post. | Marketplace discovery of a full look; the pieces remain component items. |
| Bulk Purchase API | Lets an experience support buying an outfit’s items in one transaction, as described in Roblox’s avatar merchandising launch post. | A purchase mechanism for experiences, not necessarily a public Marketplace look listing. |
| Creator Store Bundles package | A developer feature package for selling collections of in-game items, potentially at a discount. See Creator Store Bundles. | Experience-specific in-game collections, not avatar Marketplace merchandising. |
| Commerce-product bundles | Can pair a real-world product with a digital benefit, such as an avatar item or developer product. See Roblox commerce products. | Tied to real-world commerce rather than an ordinary curated avatar listing. |
| Creator animation packs | A separate 2026 pilot for creator-published locomotion bundles containing seven clips: idle, walk, run, jump, fall, climb, and swim. See the pilot announcement. | An animation-item category, not a full avatar look; it is distinct from the 2024 merchandising launch. |
What creators, brands, and buyers should do
For creators and brands
- Confirm current Marketplace eligibility and account requirements before planning a release.
- Build looks around published items that are currently available and compliant.
- Use the current Avatar Composer workflow and verify today’s app or web availability rather than relying on 2024 instructions.
- Track sales of component items unless Roblox provides a separate avatar-level reporting tool.
- Model subscription, upload, and publishing costs against likely demand; a curator who does not own the items should not budget for a separate curation commission.
For buyers
- Check which pieces are included in the look and whether they suit your avatar type.
- Do not assume a curated look is one indivisible item, discounted, or guaranteed to remain available as a complete set.
- Distinguish a full avatar look from animation packs, experience-specific bundles, and commerce offers, which can have different contents and rules.
