Yes—Roblox documents a feature that lets eligible creators charge a one-time fee in local currency for access to an experience. This is a sale of access inside Roblox, not a sale of a standalone game file. Roblox’s current documentation describes the feature; it does not confirm a newly announced future launch.
What Roblox paid access means
With paid access in local currency, a player pays real money once to gain access to an experience. The feature is subject to creator eligibility, payment setup, and other applicable requirements. Roblox names Tipalti as a third-party payment provider; check the current documentation for the requirements that apply to your account and location.
Roblox describes one possible use as temporarily opening a closed beta to engaged players for early access, testing, and feedback. That is an example, not a guarantee that every paid experience is a beta or that charging admission signals a particular level of quality.
How players buy and play
Roblox says purchases of local-currency paid access are available on desktop and web. Buying there does not necessarily limit where the experience can be played: players can use devices the creator enables in Creator Hub. The purchase channel and supported play devices are separate considerations. See Roblox’s paid-access guidance for current details.

How paid access differs from other Roblox monetization
Roblox has several ways to charge for access, in-experience benefits, or creator assets. They differ in what the buyer receives, which currency they use, and whether a purchase can be repeated.
| Option | What the player or buyer gets | Payment and purchase pattern |
|---|---|---|
| Paid access in local currency | Access to a Roblox experience | One-time real-money payment; eligibility and payment setup apply |
| Paid access in Robux | Access to an experience | Robux payment; separate from local-currency paid access |
| Passes | A lasting privilege or benefit inside an experience | One-time Robux purchase |
| Developer products | Repeatable in-game items or abilities, such as currency, ammo, or potions | Repeat-purchase Robux transactions; developers must handle purchase receipts correctly |
| Creator Store | Assets for creators, such as plugins and models | A separate asset marketplace; Roblox says its real-world pricing model returns 100% of net proceeds, subject to current terms and product eligibility |
| Commerce products | Real-world goods sold through games | Physical-goods commerce, not a charge for access to the game |
For the relevant mechanics, see Roblox documentation on paid access, passes, developer products, and Creator Store monetization, as well as its commerce APIs.

What creators earn—and how cashing out works
Roblox’s general monetization page says creators “generally earn 70% of anything they sell in Robux in their game, 30% of anything they sell in the Marketplace, and up to 90% for things they sell in real money (such as plugins or paid access purchases).” That is broad guidance, not a guaranteed paid-access payout or a promise that every transaction earns the maximum. Check the feature-specific terms and applicable rules before setting a price or estimating revenue. Roblox also says merchant-of-record responsibilities can differ according to legal requirements, so they should not be assumed to be identical in every location. Roblox’s monetization overview has the broad statement.
Local-currency paid access charges the player directly in real money. DevEx is a different process: eligible creators exchange qualifying Earned Robux for local currency after earning it through eligible Roblox activity. Roblox’s getting-started guidance says creators need at least 30,000 Earned Robux to submit a cash-out request; other eligibility criteria and terms apply, and the threshold should be rechecked against the current page. See DevEx program details and getting-started guidance.

What this does—and does not—say about Roblox’s plans
The available Roblox materials establish a documented paid-access feature, not the date or terms of a newly announced rollout. The feature is best understood as charging for entry to an experience on the platform, rather than selling a game as a downloadable file or transferring ownership. For creators considering it, the practical checks are current eligibility, payment onboarding, supported purchase and play platforms, and the terms that determine proceeds.
