Rocksmith+ is worth considering if you want to practice with songs you already like, and its catalog, supported platform, input method, and current subscription price all fit your needs. It combines song-based play with feedback, adjustable difficulty, and focused practice tools; it is a recurring service, not a one-time game purchase. Check the live catalog and checkout terms before subscribing.
What Rocksmith+ offers
Rocksmith+ is Ubisoft’s subscription music-learning service for guitar, bass, and piano. Ubisoft describes it as combining official recordings and covers with personalized real-time feedback, Adaptive Difficulty, Riff Repeater, interactive video lessons, sheet music, and other practice tools. Ubisoft’s product page puts the pitch simply: “With one Rocksmith+ subscription, you can learn guitar, bass, and piano all in one place.” Ubisoft’s Rocksmith+ product page (accessed October 8, 2026) lists the service and its features.
The useful distinction is that this is not just a library of songs to play along with. You can work through a track at an adjustable level, focus on a difficult passage with Riff Repeater, and use lessons or sheet music when you want a more instructional approach. Ubisoft and the PlayStation Store describe performance tracking, recommendations, and adaptive difficulty; those features can make practice more structured, but they do not establish a particular learning outcome for every player. PlayStation Store listing.
Is the song catalog a good fit?
The catalog is the biggest reason to choose a song-led learning service—and the biggest reason to check before paying. Ubisoft says the licensed library is growing, and its product page shows recent additions across artists and genres, including releases as recent as October 2026. That does not mean every song or arrangement is available in every country. Search the live library in your region for the artists and specific arrangements you care about; a headline catalog size or another player’s list is not a reliable substitute.

How practice works
Song play and adjustable challenge
Adaptive Difficulty adjusts the challenge as you play, while performance tracking and recommendations are intended to guide what to work on next. This suits players who want to learn through recognizable music rather than follow only a fixed sequence of lessons. It is still a practice aid: the available evidence does not establish note-detection accuracy, latency, or learning results under independent testing.

Focused repetition and lesson material
Riff Repeater lets you revisit sections, and the service also offers interactive video lessons and sheet music. Together, these options give you more than one way to approach a passage: repeat it, reduce the difficulty, or use lesson material. Whether that mix is useful depends on whether you prefer song-first practice, a more traditional course structure, or both.
What you need to play
Rocksmith+ supports guitar, bass, and piano, with access listed across iOS, Android, PC, and PlayStation. Ubisoft describes progress access across platforms, but availability and hardware support should be checked for your region and device. The input method depends on instrument and platform:
Rank #3
- Mobile guitar or bass: the phone microphone can serve as the input.
- PC guitar or bass: Ubisoft documents either the optional Rocksmith Real Tone Cable or the phone-microphone Tuner app. The cable is one connection choice, not a universal requirement.
- Piano: microphone input or a MIDI-capable connection can be used.
For PC, Ubisoft’s current store listing specifies Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), 8 GB of RAM, and 20 GB of available storage. Ubisoft’s terms require persistent internet access and connection equipment, and note that requirements can change. Check the live requirements for your specific platform before installing. Price, free access, and renewal
There is no single current standard price established across regions and storefronts. Ubisoft’s July 13, 2026 team update says discounts on a 12-month plan can bring the cost as low as $6 or €6 per month. That is a promotional floor, not a guaranteed price or necessarily an offer available when you subscribe. Ubisoft’s 2021 launch announcement listed US prices of $14.99 monthly, $39.99 per three months, and $99.99 annually; those are historical launch prices, not current price guidance. Check your local store at checkout for the plan duration, total charge, and renewal amount. Ubisoft Rocksmith+ news and updates; Ubisoft’s 2021 launch announcement.

The PlayStation Store listing describes a free selection of 20 songs and lessons. Ubisoft’s terms say subscriptions renew automatically at the checkout price unless cancelled before the next billing date. A trial offer has also been described for new users choosing an annual plan, but eligibility and availability can change; check the offer and renewal terms presented in your own store rather than assuming a trial applies. Rocksmith+ is a recurring subscription to a licensed catalog. If you would rather own a music-learning game instead of paying for ongoing access, Ubisoft says Rocksmith 2014 remains available for buyers who prefer ownership. The choice is not simply “new versus old”: compare the songs and arrangements you want, the platforms and input methods you can use, the practice tools you value, and the recurring cost and renewal terms. Do not assume that a song library or price is identical between services, regions, or storefronts. Ubisoft Rocksmith+ product page; Ubisoft Store Rocksmith 2014 listing.

Store ratings vary by platform and reflect different groups of reviewers, so they are not directly comparable measures of teaching quality. On October 8, 2026, the PlayStation Store showed 2.31 out of 5 from 5,786 ratings, while the US Apple App Store showed 4.4 out of 5 from 1.9K ratings. These are dated storefront snapshots, not controlled assessments of how effectively the service teaches. PlayStation Store listing; US Apple App Store listing.
