Rockstar Games confirmed that a third-party breach exposed a limited amount of non-material company information. ShinyHunters set an April 14, 2026 extortion deadline, but reporting says the group published data on April 13—before the deadline. The released material was described as mainly sales and financial data, with little significant information about GTA VI.
Did Rockstar Games get hacked?
Yes. On April 11, 2026, Rockstar confirmed a third-party data breach. A spokesperson told PC Gamer: “We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach. This incident has no impact on our organization or our players.” Rockstar did not identify the spokesperson by name or formal title.

That statement is Rockstar’s characterization of the incident. It confirms access to some company information, but does not specify the records involved or establish a count of affected files or people.
What was the Rockstar ransom deadline?
ShinyHunters’ post, quoted by PC Gamer, demanded that Rockstar make contact by April 14, 2026, threatening a leak and other unspecified digital problems. The group wrote: “This is a final warning to reach out by 14 Apr 2026 before we leak along with several annoying (digital) problems that’ll come your way. Make the right decision, don’t be the next headline.”

PC Gamer reported on April 13 that the data had already been published, one day before the stated deadline. The deadline therefore passed after the reported release.
How did the attackers say they got access?
ShinyHunters claimed it accessed Rockstar’s Snowflake environment using authentication tokens associated with Anodot, a third-party analytics service. PC Gamer reported that account of the alleged route, but it is the hackers’ claim—not an independently confirmed forensic finding in the cited reporting. Rockstar’s quoted statement described a third-party breach without confirming that specific path.

Did hackers leak GTA 6?
They published data, but the April 13 account from PC Gamer described the material as mainly sales and financial information and said it yielded little significant information about GTA VI. That does not establish that no other information was accessed; it does mean the reporting does not support describing this incident as a leak of a playable build or major new GTA VI content.
PC Gamer also reported figures derived from a GTA Forums user’s analysis of the released data. These were not audited or issued by Rockstar: the analysis estimated average weekly Red Dead Online revenue above $500,000 from June 2024 through April 2026, and GTA Online weekly revenue of $9.6 million from September 2025 through April 2026. It also included platform activity and booking figures, including roughly 3.5 million PS5 monthly active users and $4.5 million in weekly bookings. These are reported estimates from secondary analysis, not official company statistics.

Did Rockstar pay the hackers?
The cited April 13 report said the release appeared to show Rockstar was right not to pay, and Rockstar declined to comment on the published data. The available reporting does not establish whether any payment was made, so a definitive claim that Rockstar paid—or did not pay—would go beyond the evidence.

No cited source links the April breach to a change in GTA VI’s schedule. Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar’s June 24, 2026 announcement listed the game for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement also listed a $79.99 price and said the physical version contains a download code in the box. Those are release details, not consequences of the breach; check Rockstar’s official GTA VI page for current product information.
