The Roland V-1HD is worth considering if you need a compact switcher for up to four HDMI sources in an HD production and value physical controls, a separate preview/multiview output, and built-in audio mixing. It supports up to 1080p, not 4K, and streaming to a computer may require Roland’s UVC-01 capture device. Whether it is good value depends on your setup and current price; neither current pricing nor hands-on performance testing is established here.
What the Roland V-1HD does
The V-1HD switches between four HDMI video inputs and provides two HDMI outputs: one program output and a second output that can be configured for preview or multiview. It is an HD switcher, not a 4K or SDI model. Roland describes it as a compact, portable entry model for full-HD switching in its product materials.
It is designed for a hands-on production workflow: illuminated source buttons and a T-fader control switching, while built-in transitions, picture-in-picture, split layouts, keying, effects, and memory settings support common presentation and live-production tasks. This describes the documented feature set, not an independent assessment of ease of use or output quality.
Who should consider it?
A good fit for
- Small HD productions or presentations with no more than four HDMI sources.
- Operators who want physical source controls and a T-fader rather than relying entirely on software.
- Setups where a dedicated preview or multiview monitor is useful.
- Events that can make practical use of the built-in audio inputs, mixer processing, and production effects.
Look elsewhere or budget for additional hardware if
- Your workflow requires 4K output, SDI connections, or more than four HDMI inputs.
- You expect to connect the switcher directly to a computer over USB for streaming: Roland’s materials point to adding its UVC-01 capture device for that workflow.
- You need to confirm a specific protected HDMI source will work. Roland lists HDCP support, but compatibility should be checked for the source and intended setup rather than assumed.
This fit assessment follows Roland’s published specifications and support information; it is not based on hands-on testing.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Inputs, formats, and outputs
Roland lists four Type A HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, and one HDMI preview output. Supported inputs include 720/50p and 720/59.94p, plus 1080/50i, 1080/59.94i, 1080/50p, and 1080/59.94p, subject to the selected format. The output can be set to 720p, 1080i, or 1080p at 50 or 59.94. Interlaced input is converted to progressive internally; video processing is specified as 4:2:2, 8-bit. See Roland’s V-1HD specifications for the current format details.
The second HDMI output can be used for a program split, an up-next input preview, or a four-way multiview screen, according to Roland’s support materials. That gives an operator a way to monitor sources separately from the main program output, provided the setup includes a suitable display.

Audio, switching, and effects
Audio connections and processing
Roland specifies audio embedded in HDMI inputs, an RCA line input, and a stereo-mini microphone input with plug-in power support. Outputs include HDMI, RCA audio, and a stereo-mini headphone connection. Processing is specified at 24-bit/48 kHz, and Roland’s support page describes a 12-channel digital audio mixer.
Documented processing includes EQ, delay, compressor, high-pass filter, gate, reverb, and mastering effects. These are manufacturer feature specifications, not independent sound-quality tests; check the input and routing requirements of your microphones and other audio equipment before planning to replace an external mixer.

Using it for computer streaming
The V-1HD is a video switcher; do not assume it has a native USB streaming output. Roland’s product resources describe adding a UVC-01 to stream from the V-1HD. In that workflow, the switcher handles the HDMI sources and program output, while the capture device brings the signal into a computer for streaming software. Verify current UVC-01 availability and compatibility, and account for the capture device, computer, software, and network connection in your setup and budget.
If the goal is simply to keep prerecorded video playing as a 24/7 YouTube live stream, a video switcher is a different tool from an always-on streaming service. StreamNeo is a cloud option for that separate use case: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It does not take a live camera feed.

Software, firmware, and physical details
Roland’s support page currently lists V-1HD System Program Ver. 2.07 and V-1HD RCS Ver. 2.0.1 for Windows and macOS. Version listings and operating-system compatibility can change, so check the Roland V-1HD support page before installation. Roland describes its Version 2.0 update as adding one-third-size picture-in-picture, automatic scan, multiview audio meters, panel lock, and a quick reset action.
Roland lists dimensions of 313 × 102 × 59 mm and a weight of 1.2 kg excluding the AC adaptor. Listed accessories are the owner’s manual, AC adaptor, power cord, and cord hook; the manufacturer notes that specifications and appearances may change.
Is the Roland V-1HD worth it?
It is a plausible choice when your requirements line up with its documented strengths: four HDMI inputs, HD output up to 1080p, physical switching, a separate preview/multiview output, and onboard audio and effects. It is a poor match if 4K, SDI, or direct computer streaming without an added capture device is essential.
No current price, retailer availability, comparative value, or independent performance results are established here. Before buying, compare the current seller’s price with the complete equipment your workflow needs, including any capture device, cables, and preview display. For another switcher, compare inputs and connector types, supported formats, monitoring outputs, audio routing, built-in controls, and the full streaming path—not just the headline number of inputs.
