The RTX 4070 Ti Super is the faster card and the safer choice for 4K, heavy ray tracing, and workloads that need more than 12GB of graphics memory. The RTX 4070 Super is usually the better-value pick for 1440p: it draws less power and costs less, while still offering the same major Ada-generation RTX features.

The key trade-off is more than frame rate. The Ti Super has 16GB of GDDR6X on a wider 256-bit bus; the 4070 Super has 12GB on a 192-bit bus. Whether that extra capacity is worth paying for depends on your resolution, applications, and the actual price gap—not their historical launch prices.

What the Ti Super adds—and what that means in games

More rendering and ray-tracing capacity

The Ti Super has 1,280 more CUDA cores, about 18% more than the 4070 Super. Its listed shader performance is roughly 22% higher, with about 24% more listed RT and AI performance. Those figures describe theoretical hardware capability, not a guaranteed FPS uplift. Actual results vary with the game, resolution, settings, CPU, and use of upscaling or Frame Generation.

There is no single percentage that accurately describes the Ti Super’s advantage in every game. To compare measured FPS responsibly, look for a review that tests both cards in the same games, at the same settings and resolution, and reports average frame rates and 1% lows. Separate native rendering and DLSS results from Frame Generation results; generated frames can raise the displayed frame rate, but are not equivalent to the same number of natively rendered frames.

More VRAM and bandwidth

The Ti Super’s 16GB of memory and 256-bit bus give it more room for high-resolution textures, demanding ray-tracing settings, and other memory-intensive tasks. Its bandwidth is about one-third higher than the 4070 Super’s. That can help when a workload makes use of the extra capacity and throughput, but it does not make the Ti Super faster in every game or setting.

For typical 1440p gaming, 12GB is generally adequate, particularly without unusually demanding texture packs. If a game or application exceeds the available memory, the practical result can be stutter, reduced texture quality, or a need to change settings; the effect depends on the workload. The Ti Super’s extra 4GB is headroom, not a promise of longer useful life or better performance in every title.

Which card is better for 1440p?

For most value-focused 1440p builds, the RTX 4070 Super makes more sense. It is well suited to high settings and high-refresh play, and DLSS Super Resolution can help in supported games. At very high frame rates, however, a CPU or game-engine limit can narrow the difference between the cards, so a GPU upgrade may not produce the full benefit on every system.

Consider the Ti Super at 1440p if you use a 240Hz display and play GPU-limited games, prioritize heavy ray tracing, need the extra memory for other applications, or find it only a little more expensive. Otherwise, the less costly card is often the more balanced choice for this resolution.

Which card is better for 4K?

The RTX 4070 Ti Super is the stronger 4K option. Its additional rendering capacity, wider memory bus, and 16GB of VRAM give it more room for high-resolution textures and demanding settings than the 4070 Super. That makes it the more suitable of these two for entry-level 4K, especially if you want to keep settings high.

Neither card guarantees uncompromised ultra settings in every modern game at 4K. DLSS, ray-tracing adjustments, or reductions to particularly demanding settings may still be appropriate, depending on the title and the frame rate you want.

Ray tracing, DLSS, and other RTX features

Both cards belong to the Ada Lovelace generation and support the same major RTX feature set, including hardware ray tracing, DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Frame Generation, NVIDIA Reflex, NVENC video encoding, and NVIDIA Studio features. The Ti Super has more RT and Tensor capacity, but it does not add an exclusive gaming feature that the 4070 Super lacks. NVIDIA lists the cards and their RTX features on its RTX 4070 family page.

DLSS can improve performance in supported games, and Frame Generation can increase displayed frame rates. Neither makes the two GPUs equivalent: the Ti Super retains greater rendering capacity, and generated frames do not replace native-rendered performance or resolve every input-latency or CPU-bottleneck issue.

Creator, rendering, and AI workloads

For video editing, GPU rendering, and local AI applications, the best choice depends on whether the particular software and project benefit from GPU acceleration and how much graphics memory they use. The Ti Super’s 16GB can accommodate larger or more demanding workloads than 12GB when memory capacity is the constraint. It is not a universal guarantee of faster editing or rendering; software support, project settings, and the rest of the system matter.

Power, case fit, and card design

The Ti Super’s listed total graphics power is 285W, versus 220W for the 4070 Super. NVIDIA’s recommended system power is 700W for the Ti Super and 650W for the 4070 Super. These are system recommendations, not a rule that every Ti Super build must replace a 650W power supply: PSU quality and age, the CPU, other components, available power cables, and the specific graphics card all affect the decision.

Before buying either model, check the exact board-partner card rather than relying on the GPU name alone. Cooler size, thickness, connector arrangement, adapter requirements, factory overclock, power limit, noise, and warranty can vary. Confirm case clearance—including room around front fans or a radiator—and check that your power supply has suitable capacity and connections. NVIDIA lists a 244mm, two-slot Founders Edition size for the 4070 Super; that is not a size guarantee for partner cards, and NVIDIA’s comparison does not list a standard Founders Edition size for the Ti Super.

How much more should you pay for the Ti Super?

The cards launched at $599 for the RTX 4070 Super and $799 for the RTX 4070 Ti Super in the United States, a $200 difference. NVIDIA announced the 4070 Super for January 17, 2024, and the Ti Super for January 24, 2024. These are launch MSRPs, not a guide to what either card costs in September 2026. NVIDIA’s launch announcement provides the dates and launch pricing.

As a practical buying rule—not an official pricing recommendation—use the live price difference and your workload:

  • $100 or less extra: The Ti Super is usually the stronger package, especially for 4K, ray tracing, or workloads that use more than 12GB.
  • Around $150 extra: Decide based on resolution, memory needs, case and PSU constraints, and how much you value the additional headroom.
  • $200 or more extra: The 4070 Super is generally better value for 1440p unless you specifically need the Ti Super’s 16GB capacity or its stronger 4K performance.

For used cards, weigh condition, warranty, cooler design, and return terms along with the price. In 2026, also compare a 40-series card against newer-generation options at similar prices. A current comparison and live pricing are necessary before treating an RTX 5070 or RTX 5070 Ti as a better buy; the available TechRadar graphics-card guide provides newer-generation context, not a directly comparable benchmark for these two cards.

Which one should you buy?

  • Best value for 1440p: RTX 4070 Super, if it is meaningfully cheaper and your games do not need more than 12GB.
  • Better for 4K: RTX 4070 Ti Super, for its extra compute capacity and 16GB of memory.
  • Better for heavy ray tracing: RTX 4070 Ti Super, though settings and DLSS support still matter.
  • Better for lower-power builds: RTX 4070 Super, with lower listed gaming and total graphics power.
  • Better for memory-sensitive creation or AI: RTX 4070 Ti Super, when the application uses the additional VRAM.
  • Best used deal: Whichever card has the better verified condition, warranty, fit, and price for your workload—not simply the higher model name.

Do not confuse the Ti Super with the RTX 4070 Ti

The RTX 4070 Ti Super is a distinct model, not another name for the original RTX 4070 Ti. NVIDIA lists the Ti Super with 8,448 CUDA cores, 16GB of memory, and a 256-bit bus; the original 4070 Ti has 7,680 cores and 12GB on a 192-bit bus. Check the complete model name when comparing listings, reviews, or used cards.
