Satisfactory reached version 1.0 on PC on September 10, 2024, ending its Steam Early Access period with a narrative overhaul, new end-game progression and advanced alien technology. The “five years” refers to Steam Early Access, which began in 2020—not the game’s first Early Access release, which arrived on Epic in 2019.
When did Satisfactory leave Early Access?
Coffee Stain released Satisfactory version 1.0 on PC on September 10, 2024, with the game available through Steam and the Epic Games Store, according to the launch announcement.
The five-year framing describes the Steam Early Access span: Steam lists June 8, 2020 as its Early Access date. But the game had already entered Early Access on the Epic Games Store on March 19, 2019, a date recorded on Coffee Stain’s support page. So 1.0 followed roughly five years on Steam Early Access, but more than five years after the game first became available in Early Access.
What did the 1.0 release add?
Coffee Stain described the update as a narrative overhaul with mysteries to uncover and Tier 9 content that lets players use advanced alien technology. The company’s September 10, 2024 announcement also said the game had sold over 6 million copies during its five years of Early Access development; that is a launch-era company figure, not a current lifetime sales total.

- [Games need exclusions and runtimes, not malware]Some customers ask why our retro game drives can trigger Windows Security warnings. Many game files are older DLLs that Windows Defender sometimes flags as threats. They are not viruses or malware—just old or uncommon code causing false positives. We temporarily add them to the exclusion list so they aren't blocked, then re-enable Security to keep your PC protected. Many classic games also need legacy VC++ and DirectX runtimes, which modern Windows doesn't include by default. Installing them ensures compatibility and smooth play. Your safety matters to us—these are safe, standard steps for retro games.

New end-game progression and technology
The launch announcement said the final Project Assembly phase, Phase 5, brought Tier 9 buildings and systems. Named examples included Conveyor Belt Mk.6, the Converter and the Quantum Encoder. Portals added fast travel, but require substantial power and Singularity Cells.
Another addition, the Dimensional Depot, provides remotely accessible storage for resources. Coffee Stain said players research it in the Molecular Analysis Machine and power it with Mercer Spheres and Strange Alien Matter.
