If a Schedule I handler picks up items that never reach their destination, first talk to the worker and clear their carried inventory. Players have also reported success after replacing or reassigning the employee and checking the route and nearby shelf or station. These are community workarounds, not developer-confirmed fixes, and reports from 2025 do not establish whether the issue persists in the current version.
What the handler item-loss bug looks like
Players describe a handler or packer collecting items from a shelf or packing station, then failing to deliver them to the intended destination. In some reports, stock disappears after being picked up; in others, it “never ended up on the shelf.” Reports mention mixing stations as well as shelves. The discussions do not establish a way to recover items that have already gone missing.
One explanation players offer is that the worker’s inventory is full. Some say removing carried items—or freeing an inventory slot—restored normal handling. This is a player-reported possibility, not a confirmed diagnosis from the developer.
How to troubleshoot a Schedule I handler that loses items
- Clear the worker’s inventory. Talk to the affected employee and remove their carried items. Leave room for anything they need to carry on the route, then check whether the next delivery reaches its destination.
- Replace or reassign the employee if the problem continues. Players report that dismissing and rehiring the worker resolved the issue for them. Replacing an employee can mean setting up their routes again; another reported option is assigning a different employee to the task.
- Check the route and work area. Confirm the task points to the intended destination and that the shelf or station is accessible. Some players suggest moving or replacing the affected shelf or station, adjusting tasks, or reloading the game. These suggestions are anecdotal, and reports do not show which is most likely to work.
- Avoid manual save-file edits as a first-line fix. A community reply mentions editing an employee’s
inventory.json, but the available reports do not provide authoritative instructions or confirm that doing so is safe. Back up your save before considering any manual changes.
Which workaround should you try first?
| Option | Disruption | What players report |
|---|---|---|
| Clear the worker’s carried inventory | Lowest | Some players say normal handling resumed after removing items or freeing an inventory slot. |
| Replace or reassign the employee | Moderate; routes may need to be assigned again | Some players say replacing the worker resolved the behavior. |
| Adjust the route or move/replace the shelf or station | Changes the in-game setup | Players suggest these checks, but the reports are anecdotal and mixed. |
The reports do not provide controlled comparisons, so this is an order based on how disruptive each step is—not a ranking of success rates. None of the workarounds guarantees that missing items will return.

Is the issue fixed in the current version?
The reports describing this behavior date from March to May 2025. Later update summaries mention broader changes to employee pathfinding and inventory management, but do not specifically confirm that this item-loss issue was fixed. A community-maintained update history lists version 0.4.6f12 as released on August 8, 2026; that date alone does not establish whether the bug is present or resolved in that build.
Schedule I is an Early Access game by TVGS, according to Steam Support. Treat the steps above as reported workarounds rather than verified instructions for every current build.
