Short answer: Wizards of the Coast said in January 2024 that most Secret Lair products would move to limited print runs, so a drop can sell out before its announced end date. Wizards has not announced a universal restock promise or published print-run counts for every drop. Card legality depends on the specific card and format—not on its Secret Lair label or artwork.
Do Secret Lair drops get restocked?
There is no blanket restock promise in the official announcements cited here. Wizards’ January 2024 shipping update said that limited-run products may sell out before their end date. That means a sale window’s listed closing date is not necessarily a guarantee that the product will remain available until then. Wizards’ shipping update explains the policy.
For a sold-out drop, check its current official product page and any announcement for that specific release. An older sale window, or a different drop’s return, does not establish that this one will be restocked.
Are Secret Lair drops print-to-demand?
Not generally under the policy Wizards announced on January 2, 2024. Wizards said most drops would be pre-printed in limited runs, while allowing that some products could remain print-to-demand for a defined ordering window. The specific drop announcement is the best guide to which arrangement applies.

Wizards said the shift was intended to speed shipment and reduce waiting after purchase. It also cautioned that some products could sell out before their announced end date. These are statements about the policy and its intended effects, not a guarantee that every drop will sell out or ship on a particular schedule. Read the announcement.
Does Wizards publish each drop’s print-run number?
The cited official material does not provide a per-drop unit count. Wizards said it uses its sales history to estimate quantities and aims to get close to demand, but that does not reveal how many copies of a particular drop were printed or guarantee enough stock. Do not treat an estimate as a disclosed print run. Wizards’ January 2024 update describes the sales-history basis for its estimates.

Why can a drop sell out before its sale ends?
With a limited print run, available stock can run out while an announced ordering period is still open. Wizards said this may happen under the new approach; it did not say that every drop will sell out. The stated trade-off is pre-printing products to speed shipment, with quantities estimated using sales history. That estimate is not a promise that supply will match demand.
Can I buy a drop somewhere besides the Secret Lair website?
Sometimes, but availability is specific to the product, edition, channel, and region. Wizards has described selected releases through other sellers; those examples do not establish that every drop or edition is sold elsewhere.

Check legality for the named card in the format you intend to play. A Secret Lair reprint normally carries the legality of the card it reprints; the Secret Lair release, alternate art, or rarity alone does not make a card legal in every format. A new-to-Magic design may have its own stated legality, and format-specific rulings can affect particular cards.

For example, Wizards said the new-to-Magic cards in the 2024 Marvel Superdrop were legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage, while its other cards were legal in formats where they were already available. The Marvel Superdrop announcement gives that release’s terms. In a separate 2026 Pauper announcement, Wizards addressed a special case involving twelve cards printed at common for the first time in The Zeta Set. Read the Pauper format update.
Those examples show why a blanket statement about all Secret Lair cards is unreliable. Check the current rules or announcement for the exact card and format.
