Make a separate channel if your 24/7 stream serves a substantially different audience or viewing purpose from your regular gaming videos—and you can actively manage and promote that extra channel. Keep it on your main channel if the stream fits what its viewers already come for. YouTube does not require a separate channel, and its published guidance does not show that splitting channels improves recommendations, discovery, growth, or revenue.
Choose based on audience fit, not an assumed algorithm boost
A continuous stream can be a different product from edited uploads. For example, a channel built around edited game reviews may have a different viewing promise from an always-on ambient game soundtrack or a 24/7 gameplay stream. If those serve distinct audiences or habits, a dedicated channel can give the stream a focused destination and identity. That is a practical channel strategy, not a YouTube rule.
If your existing viewers already follow you for the same game or kind of content and would value the continuous stream, keeping it on the existing channel keeps those related offerings together. YouTube frames Live as a way to connect with viewers in real time and build community, but does not say that either channel structure performs better. YouTube’s overview of Live describes platform features, not a growth guarantee.
Use this decision framework

If both options still seem reasonable, compare them on four questions: Do the audiences overlap? Does the stream match the channel’s promise? Will viewers find the channel experience coherent? Do you have the capacity to manage and promote another destination? A limited pilot may help you make an editorial decision if you can evaluate it responsibly, but there is no published evidence here that a pilot—or either channel structure—will grow faster.

Know the YouTube Live requirements and limits
- Eligibility: YouTube says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days to enable live streaming. It lists mobile, webcam, encoder, and console as streaming methods. See Get started with live streaming.
- Concurrent streams: YouTube’s current help page lists up to 10 active streams per channel and up to 3 active streams per stream key.
- Restrictions: A new channel is not a workaround for an active restriction. YouTube says restricted creators cannot use another channel to live stream while the restriction applies.
These are platform operating details, not reasons by themselves to split or combine channels. A separate channel does not remove eligibility requirements or restrictions.
Plan promotion and archives for whichever channel you choose
YouTube recommends sharing a scheduled live-stream link at least 48 hours before going live. It also recommends organizing archives and highlights, and says making archives public can increase the reach of future streams. These are recommendations, not quantified promises. Give viewers a clear reason to visit the channel, whether that is the stream itself, edited videos, highlights, or a combination. If you use YouTube Live Redirect to send viewers at the end of one stream to a Premiere or another live stream, redirecting to another channel requires that channel’s permission. YouTube’s current help page says the sending channel needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes. Details are in YouTube’s Live Redirect guide.
What a separate channel can—and cannot—promise
A separate channel can make the stream’s audience and identity more distinct. It cannot guarantee that YouTube will recommend the stream more often, that the stream will be easier to discover, or that it will earn more. YouTube describes monetization options such as Super Chat and Super Stickers, live ads, Premium revenue, and memberships, but those feature descriptions do not establish that a separate channel earns more.

Likewise, there is no basis for saying that placing a 24/7 stream on your main channel automatically hurts its recommendations. Make the choice around audience fit, channel identity, viewer experience, and your capacity to maintain the destination—not an unsupported claim about an algorithm penalty or reward.
