Pat Freiermuth is a matchup- and roster-dependent start, not an automatic one. Through Pittsburgh’s first four games of 2026, the tight end has 14 catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns. His scoring gives him some upside, but his yardage has been modest in the past three games. Start him only if his current health checks out and he is a better option than the tight end you would otherwise use.
What Freiermuth has produced in 2026
Pittsburgh’s official player profile lists Freiermuth at 14 receptions, 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns through four regular-season games. His game-by-game line is:
| Week | Receptions | Receiving yards | Touchdowns |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5 | 46 | 1 |
| 2 | 4 | 32 | 0 |
| 3 | 2 | 30 | 0 |
| 4 | 3 | 17 | 1 |
The opener was his best game by catches and yards. His Week 4 touchdown helped his total, but his 17 yards show why relying on a score carries risk. The four-game sample supports some touchdown upside, not a dependable high yardage floor. Pittsburgh Steelers’ player profile and game log
Check his Week 5 availability before deciding
The available Steelers injury-report page is labeled “Updated: Week 4 Injury Report (Browns) Oct 01, 2026.” It does not establish Freiermuth’s Week 5 designation, so it cannot confirm that he is active, injured or cleared. When Freiermuth makes sense as a start
Compare him with your actual alternative
Judge Freiermuth against the tight end you would bench, not against an abstract ranking. A manager with a stronger, steadier option may prefer that player; one whose alternatives are similarly uncertain may reasonably accept Freiermuth’s chance to score.
Use your league’s scoring
Reception bonuses and tight-end premium scoring can increase the value of catches. Your league’s touchdown rules matter too. Do not treat a fantasy-points figure from one scoring system as universal: Freiermuth’s appeal changes with the settings you play under.

Weigh matchup and role information
Before locking in your choice, compare the opponent and any current information on Freiermuth’s targets and snaps with the same information for your alternative. Matchup, recent form, snap share and injury context are useful comparison factors, but the available Week 5 guidance does not make a player-specific recommendation. StatChasers describes Freiermuth as a 9.4 PPR-points-per-game player through Week 3 and calls him a streaming option in 12-team leagues. That is historical context, not a Week 5 projection: the surrounding matchup material is Week 4-oriented. StatChasers’ Freiermuth page
