Es gibt keine pauschale FPS-Zahl, die Windows-Sicherheit auf jedem PC kostet. Messungen zu Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) und Speicherintegrität (HVCI) zeigen je nach Spiel, Hardware und CPU- oder GPU-Limit unterschiedliche Ergebnisse. Der Titel verweist auf eine PCGH-Meinungsrunde vom 3. Oktober 2026; der vollständige Text liegt hier nicht vor, daher lassen sich daraus keine persönlichen Positionen oder ein Team-Konsens ableiten. Die vorhandenen Messungen liefern aber einen konkreten Rahmen für die Frage, wann ein Unterschied beim Spielen relevant werden kann.
Was hinter VBS und Speicherintegrität steckt
VBS steht für Virtualization-Based Security: Windows nutzt Virtualisierung, um bestimmte Sicherheitsfunktionen in einer vom übrigen Betriebssystem getrennten Umgebung auszuführen. HVCI, in Windows als Speicherintegrität bezeichnet, ist eine solche Funktion. Sie soll die Integrität des Kernel-Codes schützen. VBS und HVCI hängen zusammen, sind aber nicht dieselbe Einstellung; Testergebnisse zu einer Funktion lassen sich deshalb nicht automatisch als Ergebnis für die andere lesen.
PCGH dokumentierte für eine Windows-11-Testplattform TPM, Secure Boot und Kernelisolierung beziehungsweise HVCI. Das Magazin wies dabei darauf hin, dass Betriebssystem- und Sicherheitskonfiguration die CPU-Leistung beeinflussen können. Auch die Plattform für einen Core-i7-12700K-Test war laut PCGH nicht direkt mit der früher verwendeten Windows-10-Plattform vergleichbar. Ein Benchmark beschreibt daher nicht nur einen Prozessor: Windows-Version, BIOS-Konfiguration und aktivierte Sicherheitsfunktionen gehören zum Testaufbau.
Welche Leistungseinbußen wurden gemessen?
ComputerBase: HVCI im CPU-Limit
ComputerBase maß 2023 mit einem Ryzen 7 5800X und einer Radeon RX 7900 XTX bei maximalem CPU-Limit in 720p im Vergleich mit aktivierter statt deaktivierter Speicherintegrität (HVCI) 6 Prozent weniger durchschnittliche FPS und um 8 Prozent schlechtere Frametime-Werte. Das ist ein konkretes Ergebnis für diesen Testaufbau, keine allgemeine Verlustangabe für alle Spiele oder PCs.

Tom’s Hardware: VBS in mehreren Spielen
PC Games Hardware fasste 2023 Ergebnisse von Tom’s Hardware zusammen: Mit aktiviertem VBS lag die durchschnittliche Spieleleistung im getesteten Mix um 5 Prozent niedriger; bei 4K UHD betrug der Unterschied 2 Prozent. Die Resultate variierten je nach Spiel. In Microsoft Flight Simulator stiegen nach Deaktivierung von VBS die durchschnittlichen FPS um etwa 10 Prozent und die 1%-Low-FPS um etwa 15 Prozent. Das sind Tom’s-Hardware-Messungen, wie PCGH sie wiedergab, nicht ein unabhängiger PCGH-Benchmark.

Was Spieler aus den Zahlen ableiten können
Wer den möglichen Effekt auf dem eigenen Rechner wissen will, sollte einen kontrollierten Vorher-nachher-Vergleich mit denselben Spielen und Einstellungen durchführen. Dafür gehören auch Auflösung, Spielszenen und Messbedingungen gleich gehalten; andernfalls lässt sich eine FPS-Abweichung nicht zuverlässig der Sicherheitsfunktion zuschreiben. Zu prüfen ist außerdem, ob sich beim Umschalten tatsächlich nur die gewünschte Funktion geändert hat.

- Für eine möglichst aussagekräftige Vergleichsmessung eignen sich wiederholbare Spielszenen und mehrere Durchläufe statt eines einzelnen Werts.
- Durchschnitts-FPS allein zeigen nicht alles: Frametime-Verhalten und 1%-Low-FPS können für die wahrgenommene Gleichmäßigkeit relevant sein.
- Ein CPU-limitierter Benchmark ist hilfreich, um Leistungsunterschiede sichtbar zu machen, bildet aber nicht zwingend den Alltag eines GPU-limitierten Spiels ab.
Die genannten Quellen messen Leistung, aber sie beziffern keinen allgemeinen Sicherheitsgewinn und bestimmen nicht für jede Person die richtige Einstellung. Ein Benchmark-Verlust ist deshalb keine vollständige Abwägung des Sicherheitsrisikos. Wer Funktionen testweise deaktiviert, sollte den Vergleich als begrenztes Experiment verstehen und die normale Sicherheitskonfiguration nicht allein aus einem einzelnen FPS-Wert ableiten. PCGH formulierte in seiner Methodik zu einem Halo-Infinite-CPU-Test: „Wir gehen mit Microsofts Ansage konform, dass Sicherheit an erster Stelle steht.“ Diese Aussage stammt aus der damaligen Testmethodik und ist keine belegte Position der PCGH-Redaktion in der Meinungsrunde von 2026.
