OUTBRK multiplayer lag can come from low frame rates, an unstable connection, matchmaking, or the game’s networking—not just your internet. First compare a solo session with multiplayer: if solo play stutters too, start with graphics and performance; if the image stays smooth but players or vehicles jump or move late, focus on the connection and session. If matchmaking hangs, use the connection-specific steps below.
Tell FPS stutter from network lag
Run a solo or offline session, then compare it with multiplayer. A graphics setting can improve frame rate, but it cannot repair packet loss or server-side replication.
| What you notice | Likely category | Start here |
|---|---|---|
| The game hitches in solo play too, or the frame rate drops | Rendering or PC performance | Lower the graphics preset and cloud workload |
| The image is smooth, but players or vehicles snap, teleport, or react late | Network, server, or replication | Test Ethernet, pause background traffic, then try another session |
| Everyone in the session seems frozen or delayed | Session or server-side issue | Leave and rejoin; ask another player whether they see it too |
| “Connecting to Server” does not finish | Matchmaking or connectivity | Restart Steam and OUTBRK, then retry |
| “No available matches found” appears | Matchmaking; the PC clock is one documented check | Synchronize Windows date and time, then retry |
| Voice or text chat disconnects while gameplay continues | Social service or connectivity | Reconnect or restart, and report recurring failures |
| Hitches cluster around storms, clouds, or cities | Rendering or frame-time performance | Reduce cloud workload and check frame rate |
| The game freezes entering or exiting a vehicle | Possible DLSS-related freeze | Disable DLSS as a targeted test |
OUTBRK’s developers have identified cloud rendering as a significant performance burden and have recommended increasing cloud downsampling. That is an FPS and rendering measure, not a network fix. The developer’s known-bugs post also notes a visual trade-off: downsampling can cause blue pixels around small objects such as leaves.
Fix stuttering, low FPS, and rendering freezes
Lower the graphics and cloud workload
- If your PC is near the minimum specification, choose the Low preset. If it is stronger, try Medium before raising individual settings.
- Reduce the cloud-rendering workload. If you adjust cloud downsampling, use the lowest setting that gives stable frame times; inspect foliage and small objects for visual artifacts.
- Test the same area or activity again, ideally in both solo and multiplayer play. Change other graphics settings only after frame-time stability improves.
The developer has advised players to choose Low or Medium according to their hardware and keep graphics drivers current; it has also acknowledged unexpected performance trouble on some relatively strong PCs. See the developer’s performance advice.

Test DLSS only for the relevant freeze pattern
If OUTBRK hard-freezes while you enter or exit a vehicle, disable DLSS, restart the game, and repeat the same action. If the freeze stops, leave DLSS off temporarily or test another upscaling mode. If it continues, the cause is not confirmed as DLSS. The developer linked this particular freeze pattern to DLSS; that does not establish DLSS as a cause of high ping, packet loss, or ordinary vehicle desynchronization. The announcement describes the reported freeze and workaround.
Check drivers, storage, and local files
- Install the current graphics driver from NVIDIA or AMD, then restart the PC. Avoid third-party driver-updater utilities. If the problem began immediately after a driver update, consider a clean installation or testing a known-stable prior driver.
- Steam lists an SSD as required and NVMe storage as recommended. Its minimum specifications are a baseline, not a promise of a particular frame rate or smooth multiplayer performance.
- To check for damaged local files: open Steam Library, right-click OUTBRK, select Properties, open Installed Files, then select Verify integrity of game files. Relaunch after Steam finishes. This can repair local files, not server outages or routing problems.
Check the listed requirements
The Steam store currently lists these requirements for OUTBRK. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee smooth performance.

- Connect by Ethernet if possible. This is a test for Wi-Fi instability, not a guarantee of lower latency to a remote server.
- Pause downloads, cloud backups, streams, torrents, and other bandwidth-heavy activity on your network.
- Temporarily disconnect an unnecessary VPN or traffic-shaping tool. A VPN can sometimes improve routing, but it can also add latency or packet loss; treat it as an optional comparison, not a standard fix.
- Restart the router and PC, then quit and relaunch OUTBRK. Leave the session and try another one.
- Ask another player in the same session whether the same snapping or delay is visible to them. If it affects several players, a local graphics change is unlikely to solve it.
- If the problem continues, compare with another network only if practical. A mobile hotspot can be a diagnostic test, but is not necessarily a suitable long-term connection.
A faster download package alone does not establish that latency will improve: server distance, routing, and congestion also matter. Lowering graphics settings may make motion appear smoother when frame rate is the cause, but it does not demonstrate that network latency or packet loss was fixed.
Fix “Connecting to Server” and “No available matches found”
Restart and retry a stuck connection
- Exit the current session, quit OUTBRK completely, and restart Steam.
- Launch OUTBRK and retry matchmaking.
- If it still fails, try a different mode or session and note the exact message, including any PlayFab or Steam connection error.
OUTBRK has had earlier issues involving matchmaking hangs, timeouts, failed first attempts, and assignment to the wrong server region. Those historical fixes show that game-side causes have occurred; they do not prove that any particular old issue is currently active. The developer’s earlier announcements document those fixes.

When the cause is probably outside your PC
If solo play is smooth, the connection is stable on Ethernet, the issue recurs across sessions, and other players experience the same desynchronization, local graphics tweaks are unlikely to resolve it. The developer’s May and June 2026 updates describe a major networking overhaul, with goals including reconnection after disconnection, smoother player-animation replication, and less perceived lag between vehicles. That indicates networking work was still underway in those updates; it does not confirm a live outage or that every current lag report has the same cause. Read the developer’s networking updates.
OUTBRK’s history also includes lag spikes, wrong-region deployment, and matchmaking that became stuck on a connection message. Past patches addressed several such problems, so treat them as evidence of possible game-side failure modes—not proof of a current server problem. If only voice or text chat drops while gameplay remains normal, that alone does not show the gameplay server is lagging; May 2026 updates also discuss social reconnection fixes. Check the official announcements hub for developer updates.

Quick Recap
Quick checklist
- Compare solo and multiplayer play to separate stutter from desynchronization.
- For FPS problems, try Low or Medium settings and reduce cloud workload.
- Disable DLSS only as a test for freezes around vehicles.
- Update graphics drivers and verify OUTBRK’s Steam files.
- For rubber-banding, test Ethernet and stop background traffic; then try a different session.
- For connection hangs, restart Steam and OUTBRK. For “No available matches found,” synchronize the Windows clock.
- If the issue persists across sessions or affects multiple players, report the details rather than assuming a PC or internet upgrade will fix it.
