The flagship PS5 Pro bundle is individually numbered and limited to 12,300 consoles worldwide; the PS5 Digital Edition bundle is also limited, but Sony’s cited announcements do not state a matching production number. Both are collector-focused designs, while the Pro bundle is the higher-performance package and includes the more advanced controller.
What Sony announced
PlayStation announced the collection on September 19, 2024, to mark the original console’s December 3, 1994 launch. Sony described the products as current PS5 hardware using the original PlayStation color design.
The collection comprises the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle, PS5 Digital Edition 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle, 30th Anniversary PlayStation Portal, 30th Anniversary DualSense Edge controller and 30th Anniversary DualSense controller.
PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary bundle
Numbered scarcity
Each limited-edition PS5 Pro console is individually numbered, and Sony says only 12,300 numbered consoles will be available globally. The number applies to the PS5 Pro consoles, not necessarily to every other product in the collection.

PS5 Digital Edition 30th Anniversary bundle

Sony’s cited announcement identifies this as a limited edition but does not publish an equivalent global unit count. Do not assume it has the same 12,300-unit limit as the Pro bundle.
PS5 Pro versus PS5 Digital Edition anniversary bundles
| Feature | PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary bundle | PS5 Digital Edition 30th Anniversary bundle |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware tier | Premium PS5 Pro | Digital, disc-less PS5 |
| Published scarcity | 12,300 globally; every console individually numbered | Limited edition; quantity not stated in Sony’s cited pages |
| Controller | DualSense Edge | Standard DualSense |
| Charging hardware | DualSense charging station included | Not listed in Sony’s bundle summary |
| Disc support | Confirm the exact PS5 Pro configuration at purchase | Disc drive sold separately; matching cover included |
| Memorabilia | Includes the Digital Edition bundle’s themed items | Poster, connector housing, four cable ties, sticker and paperclip |
The Pro bundle is the clearer choice if you want the PS5 Pro hardware, a customizable Edge controller and a numbered console. The Digital Edition bundle costs and occupies less than a Pro package in principle, but it cannot play discs without the separately sold drive. Sony’s announcements establish the contents and scarcity, not a performance benchmark or a resale premium.

Where to buy one
Sony says the collection is sold through participating retailers and PlayStation Direct while supplies last. The official PlayStation Direct listing presents the PS5 Pro bundle as a product available for purchase, but stock, regional eligibility, pricing and delivery status can change.
- Check PlayStation Direct for your country or region.
- Check authorized participating retailers rather than unverified marketplace listings.
- Confirm whether the listing is the PS5 Pro or PS5 Digital Edition bundle and verify every included accessory.
- For the Digital Edition, add the optional disc drive only if you need physical-game support.
- For resale listings, inspect photos of the console’s individual number, packaging and seller history before paying a premium.
Because the announcement dates to 2024 and the collection was sold in limited quantities, availability in 2026 cannot be inferred from the launch announcement. A live retailer check is necessary.

Is a 30th Anniversary PS5 worth buying for collectors?
Reasons to buy
- The gray design directly references the 1994 original PlayStation.
- The PS5 Pro version has a documented 12,300-console global limit and individual numbering.
- The themed packaging and small accessories provide display value beyond the console itself.
- The Pro package combines the collector design with PS5 Pro hardware and a DualSense Edge.
Reasons to be cautious
- Sony has not published a resale valuation or guaranteed appreciation.
- The Digital Edition’s production quantity is not stated in the cited materials.
- The Digital Edition is disc-less, and its optional drive adds cost.
- Limited-edition status does not by itself establish better game performance; Sony’s cited materials provide no comparative benchmark.
For a collector, the individually numbered PS5 Pro is the strongest documented rarity play. For someone who primarily wants a PS5 to play games, choose based on the underlying Pro or Digital Edition hardware first and treat the anniversary styling and memorabilia as the premium.
