Guide sources report 100 Soulstones in The First Berserker: Khazan. Break these red crystals to collect their currency, then spend Soulstones with Daphrona in the Crevice on permanent passive upgrades. The available location notes cover useful waypoints across several missions, but do not establish a complete, verified route for all 100—so this guide distinguishes confirmed examples from a full collectible checklist.
What Soulstones do—and how to collect them
Soulstones are red crystal formations. The cited walkthroughs say you can break them with melee weapons or the javelin; use the javelin when a crystal is elevated or too far away to reach. The location guide identifies three permanent upgrade types sold by Daphrona in the Crevice: Lacrima Drop Rate, Recovery Rate, and Spirit Gauge. The exact cost of each upgrade is not established in the cited material. Pro Game Guides’ Soulstone location guide reports 100 crystals in total and ties collecting them all to the Agent of the Netherworld trophy or achievement; treat those as guide-reported figures, not publisher-verified counts.
How to track Soulstones without confusing them with Jarlings
Jarlings are a separate collectible, not another name for Soulstones. Pro Game Guides reports 44 Jarlings and says they begin appearing in missions only after completing the bonus mission Jar Enthusiasts. A mission index from Ghosts of Reykjavik notes a practical tracking difference: Soulstones have a per-mission counter, while Jarlings do not have a visible count during a mission. Collect Jarlings before leaving an area, and use the Soulstone counter to check your crystal progress. The mission index lists 42 missions, but its list is not a list of Soulstone locations.
Useful Soulstone waypoints by mission
The following are specific locations reported by the walkthrough, not a complete route through every mission. Directions rely on Blade Nexus landmarks and nearby features. Check side routes and look above the main path: crystals are often placed on ledges, beams, pillars, in cages, behind barriers, or among destructible objects. A javelin helps with targets out of melee range.

Early missions
- First Act of Revenge: From Central Storehouse Blade Nexus, follow the left route toward the closed-door area. After defeating the elite enemy, look for a crystal on the ramp to the left. Another is inside a wooden-barricaded room near the ambush area.
- Forgotten Temple: Check the snowy approach before entering the temple, then the far-right side of the large statue area among the pots. A later crystal is beyond melee range after the second statue puzzle and an elite enemy; use the javelin.
- Night of Tragedy: Search the room beneath an undead ambush, then check the next area along the route after exiting it.
- Blacksmith’s Heirloom: After the stone monkey encounter, look left near the tall wooden structure. Near the final Blade Nexus, defeat the flying enemy, take the left stairs, and follow the path to another crystal.
- Kaleido: After the fire contraptions and stairs, look atop the deactivated Netherworld energy device. The guide recommends throwing a javelin from near a ladder.
Mid-route missions
- Veiled Knives: A crystal is in a locked room left of the Bandit’s Citadel Blade Nexus. Reach it from above through the roof. Another is in a corner below an upper-floor opening on the route to open the large gate.
- Human Xilence: After the hammer-wielding elite near the damaged energy device, climb the ladder and look right for a crystal held by a statue; use a javelin. A second is at the end of a corridor in the first room on the left after the next stairs.
- Escaping Linon Mine: After the stairs toward the hanging bridges, check behind the spider sacs. Another crystal is at the base of a large red crystal after descending a ladder; its color can blend into the surroundings.
- Pavel’s Final Words: Look behind a coffin in the hallway after speaking with Tristan. Another is between pillars above the lift descending to the Cavern Beneath the Citadel Blade Nexus.
- Last Command: Backtrack from Execution Ground Blade Nexus to a rock beside courtyard stairs. The walkthrough recommends a javelin.
Later missions and hidden routes
- Last Sentinel: From Fortress Great Bridge Blade Nexus, take the left route across the bridge and turn right at the two staircases. A distant crystal is on a pillar, so use a javelin. Another is behind the church altar.
- Transcendental Sword: At the half-bridge area, before climbing a ladder, strike the cracked wall at the end of the hallway to reveal a hidden path. Later, at the giant-monster bridge, use a javelin to reach the open hanging cage across from the locked door and lever.
- Crimson Trace: Check the left courtyard at the starting water fountain for a crystal that is easy to miss. Another is on the left side of a bridge after the flame-firing beast and requires a javelin.
- Fall of the Empire: Backtrack from Old Town Blade Nexus to an opening behind wooden barricades. For another crystal, return across the bridge from Main Street Blade Nexus and look in a small gap in the wall near the Chaos Stones area.
- Unrequited Love: Take the stairs right of the starting Blade Nexus, defeat the enemy, and search behind wooden boxes at the end of the path. For the second, look back toward the library hallway exit from the stairs beyond the chandeliers.
Why this is not a complete 100-crystal checklist
The detailed walkthrough gives waypoint directions across many missions, but the material available here does not establish a checked, single route to all 100 Soulstones. It would be misleading to label these examples an exhaustive list or infer locations for missions without directions. The mission index names 42 missions, including the secret mission The Vow, which it says appears only after every Disk Fragment has been found. A complete-looking standard mission list therefore does not by itself establish that all content has appeared, and the index does not supply missing crystal locations. No platform- or version-specific placement differences are established by these guides.
