Angelian Trigger is a new pseudo-3D shooter from Japanese studio PiXEL, and a PlayStation 5 version is planned for 2027. Its run-through-the-screen perspective invites comparison with Space Harrier, but it is not presented as a sequel, remake, or licensed game. For English-speaking players, the key unanswered question is whether the PS5 release will include English: the available sources do not confirm its language options or a Western release.
Is Angelian Trigger coming to PS5?
Yes. PiXEL Co., Ltd., the game’s developer and publisher, announced on October 6, 2026 that Angelian Trigger is planned for PlayStation 5 in 2027. The announcement gives no specific PS5 launch date, so there is not yet a confirmed day or month to mark on the calendar. PiXEL’s announcement also names a December 10, 2026 release for Steam.
The currently listed Steam edition is digital and marked “Coming soon.” That listing does not establish a physical PS5 release, and the sources available do not confirm a Western publisher or physical PS5 edition.
What kind of game is it?
PiXEL describes Angelian Trigger as a 3D shooter in which the characters move through the depth of the screen while firing at enemies. The developer characterizes its presentation as a pseudo-3D style “of the past.” Push Square compares that look to Yu Suzuki’s arcade shooter Space Harrier; that is a stylistic resemblance, not evidence of an official connection.

Two characters, two ways to move and attack
- Mia uses dual pistols and can double-jump.
- Sheryl carries a large cannon and can float.
That split gives players a choice between distinct movement and weapon styles rather than simply changing character appearance. PiXEL also describes a support robot, covering fire from behind, force fields, multi-target homing lasers, and bonus points for taking out groups of enemies.
Story and Arcade modes
According to PiXEL, both Story Mode and Arcade Mode contain 24 stages. In Story Mode, each planet has four stages, and stages conclude with boss fights. Arcade Mode has its own boss. These are developer-stated game specifications, not independently measured statistics.

How close is it to Space Harrier?
The useful comparison is the broad arcade-shooter feel: a character advances into a pseudo-3D scene while enemies approach and the player fires. The available descriptions do not establish that Angelian Trigger is part of the Space Harrier series or uses its license. Nor do they establish identical controls, pacing, or stage design. What PiXEL does specify is its own 24-stage Story and Arcade modes, character-specific abilities, boss encounters, and support weapons.
Will Angelian Trigger have an English version?
That remains unconfirmed for PS5. The currently available Steam listing marks English as unsupported and lists Japanese audio and subtitles. The Switch version launched in Japan on December 12, 2024, and Push Square reports that it is Japanese-only. Neither fact proves what language options the future PS5 version will offer; PiXEL has not confirmed those options in the cited announcement.

Players waiting for an English release should look for a specific language announcement rather than assume the PS5 edition will match either the Steam listing or the Japanese Switch version.
