Can you play Starsand Island with friends?
Yes, multiplayer is listed on Steam, and Nintendo specifies online multiplayer for up to four players on Switch 2. The platform descriptions do not establish whether players on Steam and Switch 2 can join the same session, so cross-platform play should not be assumed.
A Steam Community announcement about Version 1.0 said online multiplayer for up to four players was introduced. It also noted that PC updates could arrive ahead of console updates while console builds went through platform review. Does it support a controller?
Steam marks the game as having full controller support and specifically names Xbox Controllers and DualSense Controllers. That makes a controller an option for PC players, not a stated requirement to play. Steam also labels the game “Playable” on Steam Deck; that status is a compatibility designation, not a performance benchmark.
