Valve says Steam Deck OLED availability may be intermittent in some regions because of memory and storage shortages. That does not mean the handheld is sold out everywhere: Valve said on May 27, 2026, that OLED models were back in stock, while its store notice still warns of regional interruptions. The February 17 report captured an earlier point in that changing supply picture.

Why might the Steam Deck OLED be out of stock?

Valve’s official Steam Deck store notice says: “Steam Deck OLED may be out-of-stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages.” The notice identifies those shortages as the reason for possible interruptions, but does not specify a more precise cause, predict how long they will last, or say that every region is affected.

The notice also said the 256GB LCD model was no longer in production. That is separate from the OLED shortage warning: it does not establish that every Steam Deck model is unavailable.

Is the Steam Deck OLED back in stock?

Availability depends on region and time. Valve announced on May 27, 2026, that Steam Deck OLED was back in stock. Its store page nevertheless continued to carry the warning about intermittent regional shortages in the information available for this article. The page did not provide a comprehensive live inventory picture for every country, so check Valve’s store for your location before ordering.

Valve Steam Deck OLED 1TB Handheld Gaming Console
  • 1TB NVMe SSD
  • 1280 x 800 HDR OLED display with premium anti-glare etched glass, 7.4" Diagonal display size up to 90Hz refresh rate
  • Wi-Fi 6E
  • 50Whr battery; 3-12 hours of gameplay (content-dependent)
  • Carrying case with removable liner

The February 17, 2026 HotHardware headline reflected the notice at that time. It should not be read as a current, worldwide inventory check: Valve’s later restock announcement changed the picture, and the regional warning does not establish a universal sellout.

What does the Steam Deck OLED cost?

In its May 27, 2026 announcement, Valve listed US prices of $789 for the 512GB OLED model and $949 for the 1TB model. Those are prices from that dated announcement, not a guarantee of today’s price or availability. Valve’s announcement also provided country-specific pricing; buyers should check the current price shown for their region.

What should buyers do?

  • Check the Steam Deck store for your country to see current stock and local pricing; the shortage warning is regional, not proof of a global outage.
  • If both OLED configurations are available, compare the live regional price with the storage you need and whether the 1TB model’s etched anti-glare glass matters to you.
  • If internal capacity is the main concern, Valve says all Steam Deck models support microSD expansion. That is an optional storage route, not a substitute for an unavailable console.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
