Steam Deck OLED stock from Valve has been intermittent in the US, but the model has not disappeared from the market. Valve’s latest announced US prices are $789 for the 512GB OLED and $949 for the 1TB OLED. When Valve is sold out, remaining options are chiefly refurbished, used, or third-party marketplace listings—not necessarily stock sold by the retailer whose site hosts the listing.
Best bet: check Valve’s store for new stock, then its certified-refurbished listings. If neither is available, compare the exact seller, condition, return terms, and total price before buying elsewhere. A marketplace listing above Valve’s price is charging you for immediacy, not a better Steam Deck.

Where to buy a Steam Deck OLED in the US
Valve restored US availability on May 27, 2026, at higher prices: $789 for the 512GB OLED and $949 for the 1TB OLED. The company cited increased memory and storage costs and broader logistical pressures. Contemporary reporting said North American stock sold out again within roughly a day. That history points to intermittent official supply—not proof that every OLED unit in the US is gone. Valve’s price announcement and reporting on the subsequent sellout provide context, but only a live US checkout can confirm present stock.

Valve’s product pages can appear available in search results even when current checkout inventory does not support an order. Start at the Steam Deck store page, select the exact model, and proceed far enough to verify checkout and a delivery estimate. If a listing is unavailable, check again later: stock can return in waves.

A product page alone does not establish that the retailer itself owns or fulfills the stock.

Best choice for most buyers
- Buy new from Valve if checkout confirms stock. It is the clearest way to get a factory-new model at Valve’s announced price, with the simplest direct purchase path.
- Otherwise, look for Valve-certified refurbished OLED stock. It can offer better value and provenance than an unknown marketplace seller. Certified stock is limited and may sell quickly; verify capacity, price, and terms on Valve’s page rather than relying on social posts. Community users reported 512GB and 1TB refurb appearances around August 14–16, but those reports do not prove current availability.
- Consider a reputable third-party refurb only at a worthwhile discount. The Best Buy-hosted $649.99 listing was marked sold out and identified North Deals US as the seller. The host retailer’s name does not make that a Best Buy-refurbished unit. Review the actual seller’s warranty and return policy.
- Use eBay or another marketplace only if you can assess the listing. A $919.99 refurbished 1TB example was already close to Valve’s $949 new price. A marketplace premium may be defensible if you need it immediately and the seller’s protections are strong, but it is not automatically good value.
- Choose an LCD refurb if price matters more than OLED features. GameStop’s surfaced prices were for LCD models, not OLED. Do not mistake the 512GB LCD for the 512GB OLED simply because the storage number matches.
What should you pay?
Use $789 for a new 512GB OLED and $949 for a new 1TB OLED as the official-price reference announced by Valve on May 27, 2026. Older indexed pages may still show the former $549 and $649 prices; those are historical figures, not the current announced US prices. Check the live Steam checkout for the price that applies to your order.

In particular, Walmart’s surfaced $999.99 512GB and $1,109.94 1TB listing signals were above Valve’s announced new prices, while a bundle’s extras should count only if you actually want them and their value is clear.
How to check a listing before paying
- Confirm it is OLED. Check the model title and specifications, not just a copied generic description or photo.
- Confirm storage. The OLED models are 512GB and 1TB. Verify that the listing does not describe an LCD model or an aftermarket storage upgrade as a factory configuration.
- Identify the seller. On retailer marketplaces, read the “sold by” and “shipped by” fields. A familiar storefront can host an independent vendor.
- Read condition and refurbishment details. Valve-certified refurb, retailer-refurbished, seller-refurbished, open-box, and used are different claims. “Excellent” alone does not explain what was tested or replaced.
- Check warranty and returns. Find out who honors the warranty, how long it lasts, who pays return shipping, and whether opened hardware can be returned.
- Ask about battery and included items. For used or seller-refurbished devices, look for battery-health information, the original charger and case, and credible photographs of the actual unit.
- Keep payment on-platform. Avoid requests to pay outside the marketplace, unusually low prices, vague storage details, and sellers with little transaction history.
- Compare the final total. Include shipping and tax, and do not treat inexpensive accessories in a bundle as compensation for a large markup.
Be especially cautious with imported units unless you can establish US warranty coverage, compatible charging equipment, return arrangements, and any tax or customs costs. Do not assume an unusual “2TB” configuration is factory-original; ask whether it is an aftermarket upgrade and how that affects support.
Why choose OLED—and what it does not improve
The OLED Deck’s appeal is chiefly the screen and refinements, not a major jump in game performance over the LCD Deck. Valve lists a 7.4-inch, 1280×800 HDR OLED panel with up to 90Hz, a 50Wh battery, Wi-Fi 6E, and a claimed battery range of roughly 3–12 hours depending on content. The OLED models come with 512GB or 1TB NVMe storage.

Valve lists the LCD model with a 7-inch, 1280×800 display, Wi-Fi 5, a 40Wh battery, and a claimed 2–8-hour range, also content-dependent. The LCD can still provide the Steam Deck experience at a lower price, but it gives up OLED image quality and HDR, the larger and higher-refresh display, the larger battery, and Wi-Fi 6E. See Valve’s model specifications before comparing listings. Do not pay an OLED premium expecting a fundamentally faster class of Steam Deck.

Waiting is sensible if you do not need the device immediately, especially when a marketplace price is at or above Valve’s new price or the seller’s terms are unclear. It also gives you a chance to find a Valve-certified refurb without taking on the uncertainty of a stranger’s battery condition or refurbishment work. Restocks are not predictable from the evidence here, however, so treat waiting as a way to avoid overpaying—not a promise of a particular date or discount.

If you need a Deck now, buy third-party only when the seller, condition, warranty, and return route are acceptable and the convenience is worth the premium to you. Confirm availability at checkout: listings can be cached, already sold, restricted by region, or disappear before payment.
