Some Steam Frame buyers say Valve moved their accounts from the waitlist into the reservation queue around September 30 and October 1, 2026. That does not mean they have received a purchase link. Valve’s process sends that option later, as units become available, and Valve has published no production, reservation, or shipping total for this reported movement.
What buyers reported
Digital Citizen reported on October 2 that a buyer posted an email on Steam’s Frame discussion hub. The reproduced opening read: “You’re officially in the reservation queue for Steam Frame 1TB Kit.” Another user reportedly described seeing the same type of promotion. These are individual buyer reports relayed by the article, not a Valve announcement or a representative survey.

Community posts and trackers, including SteamHardware.io and Reddit discussions, can document what participating users experienced. Their totals cover voluntary submissions and cannot establish how many reservations Valve moved overall.
Waitlist, reservation queue and purchase option are different stages

Therefore, a message saying you are in the reservation queue is an intermediate update, not confirmation that you can buy immediately. The 72-hour deadline applies to the purchase link, not to the earlier waitlist-to-queue promotion.

What Valve has—and has not—confirmed
- Confirmed process: Valve’s Steam Frame Limited Drop Program Terms describe reservation-queue emails, a later purchase option as units become available, and a 72-hour purchase-link expiry.
- Reported event: Buyers said they received queue-promotion emails around September 30 and October 1.
- No official volume: The October 2 report says Valve had published no Steam Frame production, reservation, or shipping figures.
- No confirmed cause: Valve has not said whether these promotions resulted from cancellations, newly produced units, or another allocation change.
- No confirmed coverage: The report did not identify which regions or storage configurations were included.
Do not interpret the reported emails as proof that Valve produced a new batch, cleared a specific number of customers, or moved every account by the same amount.
Why one buyer’s progress may not predict yours
The reported queue system is specific to both region and product. Steam Frame is offered in 256GB and 1TB kits, and movement for one kit or market does not establish the position of another. A buyer in a different country—or waiting for a different storage model—may see a different status or no change at all.

Valve’s reported FAQ language says future production runs would be offered to customers in waitlist order. That describes ordering priority, but it does not identify what caused this particular wave or when any individual account will receive a purchase option.
Steam Frame price context
Digital Citizen’s October 2 report listed the Steam Frame at $1,059 for the 256GB kit and $1,299 for the 1TB kit, inclusive of VAT where applicable. It listed the 45W power supply separately at $29. These were the report’s checked prices; regional storefronts, taxes, availability and prices can change, so verify the live Valve store for your market before relying on them.

How to read your email
- Check whether the message says you are in the reservation queue or provides an actual purchase link.
- If it is only a queue notice, treat it as progress in the line rather than an immediate buying opportunity.
- If Valve sends a purchase link, note the send time and complete the purchase within 72 hours under the limited-drop terms.
- Compare reports only with accounts for the same region and kit; do not use another user’s timing as a guaranteed estimate.
Bottom line on the reported wave
There appears to be a new wave of individual reports about Steam Frame accounts moving into the reservation queue. The evidence does not establish its size, cause, regional coverage or shipment impact. Until Valve publishes figures or a specific allocation announcement, the only reliable conclusion is that some users reached an earlier queue stage—not that a known number of headsets became available.
