What Boss Challenge measures—and what it doesn’t tell you
Boss Challenge pits Eve against 19 bosses from the base game. To challenge a boss, you need battle data from having defeated that boss in the main story. You can enter with your own gear or select a preset. Shift Up describes the minimum preset as extremely understated and the maximum preset as having boosted skills and stats. These options change the challenge conditions; they are not published rank tiers. Shift Up’s announcement says the game automatically analyzes battle data after a challenge and displays measures including battle time, perfect parries and dodges, and consumable use.

Learn a boss one attack string at a time
1. Watch for the cue and the end of the sequence
On a learning attempt, focus on one distinct string rather than trying to memorize the whole fight. Notice how the sequence begins and how you can tell it has finished. Repeating that observation gives you a specific target to work on instead of turning every hit into an undirected retry.

2. Match your defense to the move
There is no single defense to force on every enemy. PlayStation’s combat guide advises studying enemy patterns and weaknesses; it notes that some enemies are better suited to blocks and parries, while others call for dodging. Test the response against the particular move you are learning rather than retreating automatically.
3. Add offense after you can handle the string
Once you can respond to a string consistently, look for the opening after it ends. Use a combo appropriate to that opening, then stop when the boss begins another sequence. PlayStation recommends adapting combos to the enemy, punishing attacks, and building stagger. Aggression is most useful when it follows a safe opening—not when it carries Eve into an active attack string. When it suits the move, dodging around an enemy rather than away can also help you stay positioned to respond.

Make retries useful by changing one thing
Keep difficulty and preset the same when you want to judge whether you are improving. If you change the defensive response, combo, and gear all at once, it becomes harder to tell which change helped. Instead, vary one factor per retry and note what worked and what caused a hit.
- Choose one attack string to practice and observe its cue and ending.
- Test one defensive response against that string; keep the rest of your approach steady.
- After handling it consistently, test a suitable punish or combo in the opening that follows.
- After the challenge, compare the reported battle time, perfect parries and dodges, and consumable use with your previous attempt under the same conditions.
Use those measures to spot changes in your play, not to guess at undisclosed rank weights. A shorter time or a different consumable count can help describe a run, but the announcement does not establish what combination earns a particular grade.

Choose a preset or build for the kind of practice you want
The minimum preset offers a deliberately understated setup; the maximum preset boosts skills and stats. Your own gear is another option. Pick the conditions that suit your goal, and keep them consistent when comparing personal progress. Shift Up’s announcement does not explain how preset choice affects rank calculations.
PlayStation’s combat guide encourages experimenting with builds and combos, and discusses practice and adjustable difficulty or assists. It does not establish that every such option is available inside Boss Challenge. Check the current game and mode menus before relying on a particular practice setting or assist there.
Access and reward
Boss Challenge is part of the PS5 game Stellar Blade. Progress against a boss depends on having defeated that boss in the main story first. According to Shift Up’s announcement, defeating every boss on Normal difficulty or higher earns Eve’s Neurolink Suit. That reward condition is separate from any rank formula, which the announcement does not disclose.
