As of 7 October 2026, PS5 is the established version of Stellar Blade; the Switch 2 Complete Edition is still upcoming. Shift Up has described a 60 fps target for Switch 2 in both handheld and docked play, using DLSS upscaling and FSR 3.1 frame interpolation. That is a development target—not a verified retail result. Switch 2’s main practical advantage is portable play, while PS5’s listed features include DualSense haptics, adaptive triggers and Tempest 3D AudioTech.

Release dates and what is available

PlayStation lists Stellar Blade for PS5 as released on 26 April 2024. Its US product page describes the Standard Edition as the full game and also lists a Complete Edition. PlayStation’s US product page

The Switch 2 Complete Edition is not yet released as of the 7 October 2026 research cut-off. Nintendo UK and Nintendo Australia list 5 November 2026, while Shift Up’s official page displays 6 November. That is a regional listing difference; check the official listing for your market rather than treating one date as universal. Performance: Switch 2 has a target, not a verified result

What Shift Up has announced

Shift Up CTO and technical director DongKi Lee told GamesRadar: “We targeted 60 frames per second in both handheld mode and docked mode,” describing DLSS for upscaling and AMD FSR 3.1 frame interpolation as part of the approach. This is the studio’s stated target and rendering approach, not a measured result from the final retail game. It does not establish native 60 fps rendering, a final resolution, or how consistently the game will hold its target. GamesRadar’s interview with Lee

  • Adaptive triggers: Unleash devastating yet graceful acrobatic moves, and interact with the technological remnants of an abandoned Earth using the DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive triggers.
  • Haptic feedback: Feel the thrill of combat as your blade slashes its way to victory, with sensations enriched by the DualSense wireless controller’s responsive vibrations.
  • Users Interact, In-Game Purchases

Frame interpolation generates additional displayed frames; it is not the same as rendering every frame natively. The distinction matters when judging smoothness and responsiveness, but the cited sources do not establish Switch 2’s final image quality or input latency.

Frame-generation toggle planned for release

The demo initially required frame generation. After demo feedback, Shift Up announced a frame-generation toggle for release. Nintendo Life reproduced the studio’s statement: “We’ve been watching your feedback closely and decided to add a Frame Generation toggle at release. We hope this lets you play the way that looks and feels best to you!” The option is planned; its final behavior and the performance with it on or off have not been verified. Nintendo Life’s report on the toggle

Demo-era reactions should not be treated as controlled comparisons with PS5 or as proof of retail performance. The cited PlayStation pages promote rapid loading and PS5 Pro enhancement, but do not give a directly comparable measured frame rate or resolution. The available evidence therefore does not support a numerical Switch 2-versus-PS5 performance verdict.

Which edition includes which content?

The editions have different documented content lists, so “Complete Edition” should not be taken to mean the two platforms include identical items. Nintendo says the Switch 2 Complete Edition includes content from the Stellar Blade x NieR:Automata and Stellar Blade x GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE DLCs; some content unlocks after story progress. GamesRadar reports that the Switch 2 edition also bundles previously released DLC and update content, plus four Bayonetta-themed costumes. The costumes are also planned for PS5 and PC in a free update on the same date, so they are not Switch 2-exclusive. GamesRadar’s report on the edition and costumes

PlayStation’s UK Complete Edition listing names the full game, Digital Deluxe Edition content, Twin Expansion Pack, Planet Diving Suit (Captain), and Fluffy Bear Pack for the Drone. It lists the NieR:Automata and NIKKE crossover packs separately as add-ons. Check the relevant store listing to confirm what is included with a particular PS5 purchase. PlayStation’s UK product page

Which version should you choose?

  • Choose PS5 if you want the established release and its listed platform features. Its DualSense haptics, adaptive triggers and Tempest 3D AudioTech are specifically named by PlayStation.
  • Compare the actual edition contents before buying. The Switch 2 Complete Edition and PS5 Complete Edition have different documented item lists, and PS5’s crossover packs are also listed separately as add-ons.
