What is Stranded: Alien Dawn?
Developed by Haemimont Games and published by Paradox Interactive, Stranded: Alien Dawn is a single-player simulation and strategy game about managing a small group stranded on a hostile planet. Its full release was April 25, 2023; Steam lists an Early Access release date of October 12, 2022. Steam’s official listing describes a game built around keeping survivors supplied, safe, and productive.
The colony-management loop
You gather food and materials, construct shelter and defenses, and research technology while monitoring each survivor’s health and happiness. People have different backstories, skills, and traits, so assigning work and responding to problems is part of the challenge. Disease, extreme weather, alien wildlife, and unpredictable story events can disrupt even a stable settlement.
The appeal is in balancing competing needs rather than simply fighting or exploring: expanding the base may require resources your group needs for food or safety, while a crisis can force you to change plans. If you want a conventional first-person survival game, this is a different format; expect colony planning and survivor management.

What do the 83% reviews mean?
Notebookcheck reported that 83% of 11,566 Steam reviews were positive in its October 7, 2026 article. That is a dated snapshot, not a permanent score. When Steam’s listing was retrieved on October 9, it showed 82% positive among 5,684 English-language reviews and 81% positive among 65 recent reviews. Steam says it excludes review activity it considers off-topic from the score. The percentages and denominators differ because they are snapshots from different dates and review sets, not directly interchangeable measurements. Notebookcheck’s report provides the historical 83% figure; the Steam listing is the place to check the changing current score.
Is the 50% Steam discount still available?
No. Notebookcheck reported a US price of $17.49, 50% off the stated $34.99 price, with the offer ending October 8, 2026. The offer had expired by October 9. That price and discount were for the US-dollar offer and should not be treated as a current price or as applying to every region. SteamDB also recorded a promotion ending October 8, 2026; its separate historical low was CHF 13.64, 65% off, in Switzerland on December 19, 2024—not the same offer. SteamDB’s price history can help put past promotions in context, but check Steam’s store page for the live price and your region before buying.
