They describe going live from a phone using a camera or screen-sharing workflow. You can experiment with sharing a video player from your phone, but whether the video loops, its audio is captured, and playback continues reliably depends on your device and player; Streamlabs’ guides do not confirm those behaviors.
What Streamlabs Mobile documents
Streamlabs’ YouTube mobile guide explains connecting to YouTube and starting a mobile live stream. Its broader mobile streaming guide covers camera streaming and screen sharing. Neither reviewed guide describes choosing a local prerecorded video as a source or turning on a repeat control.
That means a native prerecorded-file looping workflow is not documented in those guides; it does not establish that the feature is impossible in every Streamlabs Mobile version or on every device. Streamlabs’ YouTube guide was published September 15, 2026, and its broader guide says it was last updated August 12, 2026.
Trying screen sharing as an unverified workaround
You may be able to start playback in a separate video player and share your phone screen through Streamlabs. Treat this as an experiment, not a confirmed Streamlabs feature: the player controls repeat, and the reviewed instructions do not verify that loop playback, background playback, or audio capture will work as needed.

- Check your app and phone: Open Streamlabs Mobile and confirm that the YouTube connection and screen-sharing option are available in your current app version and on your device.
- Prepare the player: Open the video in the player you intend to share. If it offers a repeat setting, enable it there; this is the player’s setting, not a documented Streamlabs repeat control.
- Test privately: Start a private or unlisted test stream, then check the YouTube playback from another device. Confirm both picture and sound, and verify that the video repeats as intended.
- Check interruptions: During the test, observe whether playback continues if the phone screen locks, the player is backgrounded, or you switch apps. Do not rely on any of these behaviors without confirming them on your exact phone and app versions.
- Only then decide whether to go public: If the test does not reliably capture both video and audio or keep playback going, this workaround is not suitable for an unattended stream.
For a repeat stream that must keep running
If you need dependable repeated playback, look for an encoder-based or cloud workflow that explicitly supports looping prerecorded files. YouTube documents connecting an encoder using the stream URL and stream key in its encoder setup guidance. That guidance explains YouTube’s connection mechanics; it does not verify a loop feature in any particular encoder.

Check YouTube eligibility before going live
YouTube’s current mobile live-stream guidance lists channel verification, live streaming enabled, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and at least 50 subscribers among the requirements. It says a first mobile stream may take up to 24 hours to become available. The guidance can change, so check YouTube’s page for your channel and region before troubleshooting Streamlabs. Streamlabs’ September 2026 article wording conflicts with YouTube’s listed subscriber requirement; use YouTube’s current platform guidance for eligibility.
Protect your stream from copyright problems
Only stream video and audio you own or are licensed to use for livestreaming. YouTube scans live streams for third-party copyrighted content; a match can lead to a placeholder, interruption, or termination. Even if you have a license, the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and livestream terms.

Plan for the recording separately
A live stream is not a dependable substitute for a local recording or a complete YouTube archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours may be archived automatically, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its archive guidance recommends keeping a local backup if the recording matters. For a continuous stream, do not assume YouTube will preserve one complete 24/7 archive.
