The practical choice depends on your file’s length and size, whether you need other streaming destinations, and how much control you expect while the video is playing. StreamYard documents automatic playback and says its live studio cannot control comments, overlays, or media assets during a prerecorded stream. Talk Studio advertises prerecorded scheduling and uploads on Pro, but its reviewed official guidance does not establish whether comparable controls are available during playback.

Which one should you choose?
Choose Talk Studio if its Pro limits fit your video
Talk Studio Pro is a documented fit when your prerecorded video is no longer than two hours and the upload is no larger than 300 MB, and you want the listed Pro features such as 1080p or multistreaming. Its reviewed materials do not explain whether you can manage comments or alter production elements in Talk Studio while prerecorded playback is underway. If that interaction matters, verify it with Streamlabs before committing.
Choose StreamYard if you need longer scheduled videos or clear automation
StreamYard’s published plan limits extend to eight hours on Team and Business, with the help guide listing uploads up to 25 GB on those plans. Its prerecorded playback starts automatically at the selected time and ends when the video finishes. The trade-off is explicit: you cannot use its live studio to control comments, overlays, or media assets during that playback. Comments remain viewable on YouTube or another destination.

Check destinations and sharing before deciding
StreamYard’s help pages name YouTube as a native destination and describe scheduling for YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and StreamYard On-Air. The scheduling article says X, Instagram, and custom RTMP do not support advance scheduling there; destination behavior can change, so check the current supported-platform and scheduling pages. Talk Studio’s prerecorded guide instructs users to select destinations, while its feature page advertises multistream chat; the reviewed instructions do not establish equivalent destination-by-destination scheduling details or when a YouTube share link becomes available.

Its help article adds limits of up to eight hours for Team and Business, and upload sizes of 10 GB on Core and Advanced or 25 GB on Team and Business. How to schedule a prerecorded YouTube stream
In Talk Studio
- Open the scheduling workflow in Talk Studio and choose to schedule a broadcast.
- Select YouTube and any other destinations you intend to use.
- Choose the prerecorded-video option and upload the file. Check that it fits the plan’s documented duration and file-size limits.
- Enter the title and description, set the date and time, and add a thumbnail if the current workflow offers it.
- Review the scheduled broadcast in Talk Studio and confirm the destination and start time in YouTube before sharing its link.
Streamlabs’ guide for this workflow was originally published October 15, 2021 and last updated April 25, 2025. Treat it as a workflow guide, not a guarantee that every current screen label is unchanged. The reviewed guidance does not establish when Talk Studio makes a shareable YouTube link available.

In StreamYard
- Create a live stream in StreamYard and select “Pre-recorded video.”
- Upload a local file or select a previous StreamYard recording.
- Choose YouTube and any other available destinations, then set the scheduled time.
- Enter the title and description and create the broadcast. The video starts automatically at the scheduled time and ends when playback finishes.
- If you need to promote the stream in advance, schedule an announcement post. StreamYard says the YouTube link is created when that announcement post is scheduled; without an announcement, the link becomes available when the stream goes live. Its help article says a thumbnail can be uploaded when scheduling an announcement for YouTube, Facebook, or LinkedIn.
StreamYard says prerecorded streams can be scheduled up to 365 days in advance. Confirm the current platform and account options before relying on that lead time.
What to check before the scheduled start
- Duration and file size: Match both to the specific plan. An eligible duration does not guarantee the file is small enough to upload.
- Destination: Confirm YouTube is selected and that any additional destinations support advance scheduling for your account.
- Promotion: In StreamYard, plan the announcement timing if you want a shareable YouTube link before the broadcast begins.
- Interaction: If you need to pin or respond to comments, change overlays, or add media while the video plays, account for StreamYard’s documented studio limitation. Talk Studio’s reviewed guidance does not settle the same question.
- Rights and YouTube rules: Use video and audio you have permission to stream, and check YouTube’s current copyright and monetization rules. Scheduling a video does not make copyrighted material authorized or guarantee that a channel qualifies for monetization; reused-content decisions are separate from whether a stream can be scheduled.
- Timing: Verify the time zone, scheduled date, title, description, and thumbnail in the service and destination before promoting the event.
Troubleshooting common problems
The video will not upload
Check the file size and duration against the plan you are using, then confirm the account has access to prerecorded uploads. Talk Studio’s published upload feature is listed on Pro, with a 300 MB limit for prerecorded streams up to two hours. StreamYard’s documented file-size and duration limits vary by plan.

The scheduled stream has no shareable YouTube link
For StreamYard, a link is generated at announcement-post scheduling if you schedule one; without an announcement, it becomes available when playback starts. For Talk Studio, the reviewed guide does not specify link timing. Check the scheduled broadcast and YouTube Live control room, and avoid promising a link before it is visible.
The stream starts, but you cannot change what viewers see
That is expected for StreamYard prerecorded playback: its help guide says the live studio cannot control comments, overlays, or media assets while the video is running. Comments can still be viewed on YouTube or the other destination. For Talk Studio, confirm available controls with Streamlabs because the reviewed official materials do not explain them during prerecorded playback.

A destination or scheduling option is missing
Check that the platform supports advance scheduling in the current product and account configuration. StreamYard’s scheduling help specifically excludes X, Instagram, and custom RTMP from advance scheduling in that guide, while listing YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and StreamYard On-Air as supported. Recheck current help documentation if your destination is not listed.
