StreamShark vs Restream for Pre-Recorded YouTube Live Streams

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For most creators scheduling a recorded video to appear live on YouTube, Restream has the clearer self-serve workflow. StreamShark also supports scheduled video playback, but its Live Scheduler is presented as an Enterprise feature and its support materials say access requires a subscription with a Dedicated Server. Check the exact plan and account requirements before committing to either service.

Here, “pre-recorded YouTube live stream” means a video recorded in advance and scheduled to play as a live event—not a live camera broadcast. The comparison below reflects the vendors’ published documentation and pricing pages checked on October 3, 2026; features and prices can change.

At a glance

Decision point Restream StreamShark
Recorded-video workflow Choose or upload a video, enter event details and a schedule, select channels, and create the event. Restream says it airs automatically at the scheduled time; certain destinations may still require a manual start on their own platform. Restream’s event guide Curate VOD content into Live Schedules, including one-off, recurring, and 24/7 loop configurations. StreamShark Live Scheduler support
YouTube and destinations The documented guide covers prerecorded events; confirm current channel support and connection options in your account. StreamShark’s VOD2Live material names YouTube as a possible multistream destination. StreamShark VOD2Live
Video allowance The help guide lists Premier: 2 hours at 1080p; Marathon: 4 hours at 1080p; Media: 12 hours at 4K. Confirm current limits before uploading. Its product page describes prerecorded content up to 4K; delivery details and access depend on deployment and plan.
Schedule options Set the event date and time. The help guide says a video can be looped up to 10 times. Set dates and times with timezone settings; recurring schedules and 24/7 loops are documented.
Access and published pricing Restream says prerecorded streaming is available to all users, with storage and size dependent on tier. Channel limits and feature usage vary by plan. Live Scheduler is marked Enterprise-only on the pricing comparison; support documentation says a subscription with a Dedicated Server is required.
Likely fit to investigate Creators and teams who want a straightforward upload-and-schedule workflow and whose video and channel needs fit the current limits. Enterprise or broadcast teams that need timezone scheduling, recurring or continuous playback, 4K or multistream delivery, and can confirm dedicated infrastructure and pricing.

Which service should you choose?

Choose Restream if you want an accessible scheduled-event workflow

Restream’s documented process is straightforward: select an existing video or upload one, enter event details and a time, choose channels, and create the event. Its help article says the event airs automatically at the scheduled time. Because some connected destinations may require a manual start on the destination platform, verify the behavior for your intended YouTube setup rather than assuming every channel behaves identically.

Restream’s guide says prerecorded streaming is available to all users, while storage and video size depend on tier. Its premium-features guide lists simultaneous channel counts of Free 2, Standard 3, Professional 5, Business 8, and Enterprise 25+. The guide says higher subscriptions unlock additional features and usage; check the precise entitlement and channel limit for your intended event before buying. Investigate StreamShark if you need broadcast-oriented scheduling

StreamShark documents scheduled VOD playback, timezone programming, recurring dates, and 24/7 loops. Its VOD2Live material describes content up to 4K and multistream delivery, including YouTube. Check YouTube eligibility separately

A paid Restream or StreamShark subscription does not override YouTube’s channel restrictions. YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days to live stream. Confirm eligibility in YouTube Studio before setting up an event. Where StreamNeo fits

If your real goal is to keep a prerecorded YouTube stream running continuously, rather than compare scheduled events across destinations, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it runs an always-on YouTube stream from the cloud, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a first day free. It is YouTube-only and plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera.

Or let it run in the cloud

  1. Upload your recording or build a playlist.
  2. Add your YouTube stream key once.
  3. Go live; StreamNeo loops the video from the cloud.

Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. Every slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. Whatever you upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, without re-encoding or quality tiers. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly: $9.99 per month.

Visit StreamNeo for details or start the free day.
