Its documented workflow connects participants in rooms and provides individual feeds for production software such as OBS or vMix. The core join process looks simple on paper, but separate feeds, high bitrates, unprocessed audio, and routing add setup work. Available public information describes capabilities and vendor recommendations, but does not establish independent reliability measurements or a hands-on test.
What StreamVoodoo does
StreamVoodoo describes its web service as connecting multiple high-definition video feeds with studio-quality sound in real time through a browser. A host creates a room, optionally sets a password, allows camera and microphone access, and shares an invitation link with participants. Its official FAQ names three room sizes: Duo for two concurrent connections, Cinco for five, and Switcher for up to ten. For more connections, the FAQ says to contact the company.
The production-oriented feature is the individual “Magic Link”: the FAQ describes each as a video feed with sound that can be added as a browser source in OBS or vMix. A “Stage Link” adds chat alongside a feed. These are not automatically a conventional gallery view; the FAQ describes a Magic Link as corresponding to a camera input/output. Rooms are said to remain for one week after the host leaves unless the host rejoins the same room. The FAQ also describes using another room and screen sharing to combine everyone in an original room into one output.
This makes StreamVoodoo a possible fit for interviews, remote panels, and performance contributions where a producer wants to handle guests inside a separate switcher. It is distinct from the final broadcast destination: the room connects contributors and supplies feeds, while a separate production and distribution setup may be needed to deliver a finished program to a large audience.

How setup and production work
Getting guests into a room
- Log in, then create a room or select one. The host may set an optional password.
- Allow camera and microphone permissions in the browser or supported app.
- Send guests the room invitation. The host and each guest need working camera and microphone access for the intended contribution.
- For a production workflow, add the relevant Magic Links as browser sources in OBS or vMix. Plan the layout and switching in that production software; a Magic Link is an individual feed, not a ready-made multi-person gallery.
The company’s written flow is straightforward, but a real production can involve more than joining: each guest’s network and settings matter, and separate video and audio feeds may require additional routing. An independent Larry Jordan review, dated about 3.2 years before the research access date, reported that the reviewer could not find instructions. That is a dated reviewer observation, not proof that instructions are unavailable now; the current FAQ does document setup steps. First-time hosts should still check whether the guide is clear enough for their guests and production workflow.
Resolution, bitrate, and codecs
The StreamVoodoo FAQ says 720p is the default and that each participant can change their own resolution and bitrate. It recommends 3 or 4 Mbps as a standard setting and 6 Mbps or higher for broadcasting. The company says browser use can reach 4K at 60 fps and up to 10 Mbps, while its Mac app can reach 20 Mbps. These are vendor-stated capabilities and recommendations, not independently verified results; the FAQ says Ethernet is needed for the highest settings to perform as intended.

The FAQ describes VP8 as its standard format and says major browsers support it. It presents H.264 as an option for mobile devices or devices that cannot handle VP8 or VP9, VP9 as a high-quality choice supported by most browsers, and AV1 as a newer option for browser and Mac versions that uses less bandwidth but needs a powerful computer. Codec support and browser behavior can change, so confirm current compatibility for the devices and browsers your guests will use.
Audio and participant control
Standard audio is described by the company as compressed and echo-cancelled. Its “Studio Sound” mode is described as full-spectrum audio without processing; the FAQ recommends headphones in that mode to reduce the chance that speaker output feeds back into a microphone. If you want to route audio through OBS, the FAQ lists an OBS Audio Monitor plugin and virtual audio devices such as Loopback, BlackHole, and Virtual Audio Cable as examples. They are setup options, not required products or endorsements.

A-B subrooms can act as a green room or waiting area: according to the FAQ, a host can move participants between them to prepare cameras and microphones before a guest speaks or performs. Simulcast lets participants choose high, medium, or low quality for another person’s feed. Those controls may help a producer manage a session, but the available information does not independently demonstrate how they behave under live production conditions.
Reliability: what is established and what is not
StreamVoodoo’s FAQ claims “sub second latency overall.” It also says the company has two server locations for each U.S. coast and nodes in the UK, and invites users to contact it about worldwide nodes. These are vendor statements. The available sources do not provide independent latency tests, an uptime figure, outage frequency, or a service-status history, so they are not enough to assign StreamVoodoo a verified reliability score or predict performance for a particular location.

That is a legal warranty disclaimer on a legacy page; its current contractual applicability is not established, and it is not evidence that outages occur at any particular rate.
For a consequential show, test with the actual guest devices, network conditions, browser or app, chosen codec, video settings, and audio routing. The relevant question is not just whether a room can be opened: it is whether every guest can join, remain stable, and deliver the feeds your switcher needs during a full session.

Audience distribution is a separate decision
StreamVoodoo’s documented purpose is remote contribution and production input. Its FAQ describes limited direct viewing for rooms and Magic Links, and points users toward OBS or vMix and another RTMP endpoint for wider distribution. Larry Jordan’s review likewise noted that reaching a large audience requires a separate multicast service and could become expensive. Those observations argue for checking audience capacity and distribution costs before treating StreamVoodoo as an end-to-end broadcast platform; they do not establish a current audience limit or price for a particular distribution provider.
When comparing it with another remote-production option, check the maximum simultaneous guests and how extra connections are provisioned; resolution, bitrate, codec, and wired-network requirements; audio processing and routing; whether outputs are separate feeds or a group view; geographic infrastructure and independently documented reliability; onboarding; and whether a separate distribution service is required. Confirm present pricing and contract terms directly. The legacy plans page listed Voodoo Switch at $250 per month, but that is historical advertised pricing, not verified current pricing.
Who may find it useful—and what to verify
StreamVoodoo may suit a producer who needs browser-based guest connections and individual feeds to bring into a separate switcher. It is less straightforward for someone expecting one service to connect remote contributors, produce the show, and distribute it to a large public audience. The source material does not establish a hands-on test, so the most useful pre-production check is a trial run that mirrors the real show.
- Have a first-time guest join on the device and browser they will use live.
- Test the intended room size and determine whether the plan’s connection limit accommodates the session.
- Try the selected resolution, bitrate, and codec on the actual network; use Ethernet if evaluating the highest settings the company describes.
- Confirm that Magic Links expose the individual feeds you need in OBS or vMix.
- Test standard audio and, if needed, Studio Sound with the intended headphones and routing setup.
- Verify the separate audience-distribution path, its capacity, and its cost.
- For any reliability conclusion, record the test date, operating system, browser or app, guest count, network type, settings, and any interruptions across more than one session.
Other published details
The StreamVoodoo Music page describes 1080p video feeds, 320 kbps audio feeds, and up to five musicians. The page does not state a publication year, and those plan-feature claims may not reflect current availability. Apple’s StreamVoodoo Mobile listing describes iPhone camera sharing through a Magic Link and lists iOS 14 or later, iPadOS 14 or later, and Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 11 or later compatibility. Store details can change; check the listing before relying on compatibility. When accessed on 2026-10-03, Apple said the app had not received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview. That indicates limited public review data on that listing, not a technical reliability result.
