Check those stages in order. An “offline” label alone does not identify the cause, and the available StreamVoodoo guidance does not document one guaranteed fix for this symptom.
First, identify what “offline” means
This guide is about a YouTube live event that is not receiving or presenting the broadcast you expect. It is different from YouTube’s mobile-app offline downloads, which let people watch certain videos without an internet connection in select areas. YouTube’s offline-video help describes that separate feature.
Note exactly where you see the problem. “Incoming live but it is offline” and “Connect streaming software to go live” are examples of user wording, not official diagnoses; one appeared in a historical YouTube Help Community report. YouTube Help Community
- StreamVoodoo room: The intended participant or camera feed is missing or blank.
- Magic Link or broadcasting software: The room looks correct, but the feed does not appear in OBS, vMix, or another receiving application.
- YouTube Live Control Room: The software appears to be running, but YouTube does not recognize an incoming signal.
- Viewer playback: YouTube indicates that the event is live, but you or another viewer cannot watch it.
These are different failure points. A healthy room does not prove that the encoder is sending to the intended YouTube event, and a viewer playback problem does not by itself prove that the source feed is broken.

Trace the signal from StreamVoodoo to YouTube
StreamVoodoo describes a browser-based workflow for connecting multiple high-definition video feeds with studio-quality sound. Its FAQ explains creating a broadcast room, allowing camera and microphone access, inviting participants, and using an individual feed’s Magic Link as a shareable stream or as a browser source in software such as OBS or vMix. That establishes the possible handoffs to check; it does not establish that StreamVoodoo controls YouTube’s live status. StreamVoodoo FAQ
- Check the room and source. Open the StreamVoodoo room and confirm the intended participant and feed are visible. If they are not, check that the browser has permission to use the camera and microphone, and that the correct camera and audio devices are selected. If another participant supplies the feed, confirm that person has joined the intended room.
- Check the specific Magic Link. Confirm that you selected the Magic Link for the feed you intend to broadcast—not another participant’s output or a different feed. StreamVoodoo documents Magic Links as individual feed outputs, so a working room and a working selected output are separate checks.
- Check the receiving software. In OBS, vMix, or the software you use, confirm that the Magic Link is the source being received and that it displays video. If the software has no image, troubleshoot that input before changing YouTube settings. StreamVoodoo’s FAQ documents the Magic Link workflow, but the sources available here do not give a StreamVoodoo-specific diagnosis for a failed YouTube connection.
- Check the YouTube destination. Confirm that the broadcasting software is sending to the intended YouTube Live event and that the selected connection and stream key are the ones associated with that event. Treat this as a workflow check, not a confirmed StreamVoodoo-specific cause: the StreamVoodoo FAQ does not provide a guide to YouTube ingest keys or event mismatches.
- Read the state YouTube reports. If the Live Control Room says it has not received a signal, focus on the feed-to-software and software-to-event handoffs. If YouTube recognizes a live event but a viewer cannot play it, test the viewer’s connection and device instead.
Check feed settings and network conditions
StreamVoodoo says its room defaults to 720p, suggests 3 or 4 Mbps as standard and 6 Mbps or higher when broadcasting, and recommends Ethernet for its highest video qualities. These are StreamVoodoo’s stated settings and guidance for its own feed—not universal YouTube upload requirements and not a guaranteed remedy for an offline event. StreamVoodoo FAQ

If the room feed is unstable, verify its selected resolution, bitrate, and video codec in StreamVoodoo, then use a wired Ethernet connection if it is practical for your setup. Change one setting at a time and observe whether the feed in the room and the output in your broadcasting software improve; do not assume a higher bitrate will fix a missing source or an incorrect event destination.
YouTube lists approximate sustained speeds for watching video: 20 Mbps for 4K, 5 Mbps for 1080p, 2.5 Mbps for 720p, 1.1 Mbps for 480p, and 0.7 Mbps for 360p. Those figures are playback guidance, not live encoder upload requirements. YouTube playback troubleshooting

If YouTube says live but a viewer sees an error
When the creator can see a healthy live event but a viewer cannot play it, troubleshoot playback rather than assuming the StreamVoodoo feed is offline. YouTube’s playback guidance recommends checking the internet connection and data use, restarting the connection or app/device, updating the app or browser, and testing without browser extensions that might interfere. Ask another viewer to test the event. If only one device or viewer has trouble, record that distinction and focus on that device’s app, browser, connection, or extensions. If multiple viewers cannot access an event that YouTube identifies as live, keep the creator-side signal state and the viewers’ exact error messages for the next support step.

When to escalate
The available product and YouTube help pages do not establish one StreamVoodoo-specific root cause or guaranteed fix for this exact offline status. Give support enough information to identify the failing handoff rather than reporting only that the stream is offline:
- The exact status or error shown in YouTube Studio.
- Whether the intended feed is visible in the StreamVoodoo room and whether its Magic Link output appears in the broadcasting software.
- Which broadcasting software is involved and whether it is sending to the intended YouTube event.
- Whether the issue affects the creator, one viewer, or multiple viewers.
- The selected StreamVoodoo feed settings and whether the connection is wired or wireless.
