StreamYard Prerecorded Video Audio Out of Sync on YouTube: How to Fix It

Compare the original file, StreamYard output, and YouTube playback to locate where prerecorded audio sync goes wrong—and what to check next.

Start by checking the original video file. If its audio and video are already out of sync when played locally, correct or re-encode the file before uploading it to StreamYard. If the file is in sync, compare the StreamYard output and YouTube playback on another device or player before deciding where the mismatch begins.

Find where the sync problem starts

Compare the same point in three places: the original file, the prerecorded output from StreamYard, and the YouTube version. This narrows down the workflow stage to investigate; it does not, by itself, prove that StreamYard or YouTube caused the issue.

  1. Play the original file locally. Check both the beginning and a later section. Note whether the sound is early or late and whether the difference stays about the same or grows over time.
  2. Check the StreamYard output. Compare the same moments. If the source is in sync but the output is not, focus on the file’s compatibility and the StreamYard workflow.
  3. Check YouTube playback. Try another device or player. If the StreamYard output appears in sync but YouTube does not, compare playback environments and check the track durations before assigning blame.

A steady offset and a mismatch that increases over time are useful observations, not diagnoses on their own. Record what you see at the start and near the end.

Check the audio and video track durations

YouTube advises: “Make sure the durations of your audio and video tracks are the same.” If one track is shorter or longer, edit the tracks in video-editing software before uploading. YouTube’s instructions are at YouTube Help: recommended upload encoding settings.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Inspect the file’s track durations in an editor or media-information tool. If the durations differ, correct the edit and export a new file; changing StreamYard settings cannot make mismatched tracks in the source match. YouTube also says: “To edit your audio and video tracks, use a video editing software before uploading your content to YouTube.”

Re-encode the file using StreamYard’s recommended settings

If the original is out of sync, or its encoding may be causing trouble in the prerecorded workflow, StreamYard recommends re-encoding with HandBrake and uploading the converted file. Its recommended settings are intended for that workflow, not a guaranteed fix for every sync problem. See StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream optimization guide.

  • Total bitrate: under 10,000 kbps (10 Mb/s), as StreamYard recommends.

StreamYard’s current format guidance lists MP4/MOV uploads, H.264 video, AAC audio, and plan-dependent limits; check the current optimization guidance for applicable upload requirements. Do not confuse YouTube’s broader preferred upload frame rates—24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60 FPS—with StreamYard’s specific recommendation of constant 30 fps for this prerecorded workflow.

Upload and test before scheduling the full video

  1. Export the corrected or re-encoded file.
  2. Upload that file to StreamYard and test a short segment, including a point near the beginning and another later in the video.
  3. Check the resulting YouTube playback on the device and player where you noticed the problem. If possible, compare it with another playback environment.
  4. Only schedule the full video after the test segment is in sync. StreamYard’s guidance for prerecorded-stream lagging or upload issues also recommends re-encoding with HandBrake and re-uploading: StreamYard prerecorded-stream troubleshooting.

Try general StreamYard audio checks only if they fit the symptoms

Browser and device checks are secondary for a prerecorded file that is out of sync, but may help if the symptom occurs only in StreamYard’s interface or a particular playback environment. StreamYard suggests trying Chrome or Firefox, disabling extensions that may affect audio, and checking the selected device and its settings. Its audio guidance says StreamYard is optimized for 48,000 Hz (48 kHz). See StreamYard’s audio guidance.

If it still happens, collect details before asking for help

Provide reproducible observations rather than only saying “the audio is delayed.” The reviewed guidance does not prescribe an official checklist for this exact case, but these details can help someone investigate:

  • The original file’s container, video codec, frame rate, and audio format.
  • Whether the original file is already out of sync when played locally.
  • Whether the mismatch is consistent or grows, and its approximate offset near the start and end.
  • Whether the StreamYard output and YouTube version show the same symptom.
  • The YouTube playback device, browser, and player, and whether another player reproduces the issue.
  • Whether re-encoding and re-uploading changed the result.
