Pocket Gamer’s list is the current October 2026 ranking located for this article. Its own framing is that S-tier pets are candidates to build a team around; lower tiers are comparatively weaker or more situational. The article does not publish a transparent scoring rubric or establish broad player consensus. Its entries also include repeated or ambiguous placements, so the tier names should not be read as a precise, universally comparable measurement.

How to use a tier list in a run
Start with the available pack and mode
A tier list is useful only when its pool matches the pets you can actually encounter. Check whether a ranking is for a particular pack or custom pool, and whether it applies to your mode. A placement from one pool or mode should not automatically be transferred to another.
Account for turn timing and shop access
In the community-maintained Pets reference, ordinary shop pets cost three gold, a team can hold five pets, and shop tiers unlock every other turn. Tier X becomes available on turn 2X−1, so tier six opens on turn eleven. A powerful pet that appears late cannot help a team that needs immediate strength, while earlier shop options may be more practical for a particular run.

Build around abilities and synergies
Each pet has base attack, base health, and a unique ability. Pets can be bought, repositioned, sold, merged, or fed food, and many abilities work particularly well together. That means a pet’s value depends not just on its tier label but on what the rest of the team can enable. Battle order also matters: pets attack from right to left on your side and from left to right for the opponent.
Why the October list is not a universal meta
Pocket Gamer’s article supplies editorial placements, but no scoring method that would let readers reproduce or independently compare its rankings. The source also contains duplicated entries with differing labels. Blue Whale appears in S tier with a Danger Pack label and in A tier with Tier 4; Bay Cat appears in both A and B with different labels; and Camel appears in both B and C. Those entries should be treated as unresolved source ambiguity rather than silently combined into one definitive placement.

Other published rankings are dated and may cover a different pack, mode, or custom roster. Grounded SAP’s tier-list archive illustrates that variety, with historical creator rankings and community-voted lists. It is helpful for context, but older rankings are not substitutes for an October 2026 list. No current official developer ranking or measured community consensus is established here.
What changed recently, and how version labels relate
The community wiki’s version history lists version 0.48 on May 21, 2026, as the “Bugs, Cowardly, & Danger update,” including Danger Pack balance changes and a new ailment. It lists version 0.47 on April 8, 2026, as the Daily Mode update with minor balance changes. Pocket Gamer’s “version 203” label uses a different numbering convention; the available sources do not establish a conversion between it and the wiki’s version numbers.

How to compare another ranking
- Date and version: Check when the list was published or updated and which game version it names.
- Pack or pool: Confirm whether it covers a standard pack, Danger Pack, custom pool, or another selection.
- Mode: Check whether it ranks pets for Arena, Versus, Daily Mode, or another mode.
- Turn and shop tier: A pet’s availability can affect its practical value in the run.
- Assumed team: Find out whether the ranking expects particular teammates or ability synergies.
These checks help explain why two rankings can disagree without either being a direct contradiction: they may be judging different versions, pools, modes, timings, or team plans.
