The list below identifies those six prominent songs by episode and placement; it is not a verified inventory of every song or instrumental cue heard during gameplay. This is the original game, not New Tales from the Borderlands. 2K dates its episodic release from November 2014 to October 2015 and places its story between Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3 (2K).
Episode-opening songs in Tales from the Borderlands
Each of the five episodes has a featured opening song. Here they are in episode order:
| Episode | Placement | Song | Artist |
|---|---|---|---|
| Episode 1 | Opening | “Busy Earnin’” | Jungle |
| Episode 2 | Opening | “Kiss the Sky” | Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra |
| Episode 3 | Opening | “Pieces of the People We Love” | The Rapture |
| Episode 4 | Opening | “To the Top” | Twin Shadow |
| Episode 5 | Opening | “Retrograde” | James Blake |
The episode-to-song mapping is listed in a Steam community song guide and discussed by Telltale Community. MobyGames also credits Jungle for performing “Busy Earnin’” in Episode 1 (MobyGames).
The finale-credits song
Episode 5’s finale credits feature “My Silver Lining” by First Aid Kit. It is distinct from that episode’s opening song, “Retrograde.” The same six-song set, including this credits track, appears in a Spotify playlist.

What this song list covers—and what it doesn’t
These are the five featured episode-opening songs and the finale-credits song identified in the available episode lists and discussions. They are not a complete, authoritative cue sheet: the sources do not establish every licensed song, incidental track, or instrumental score cue that may be heard during gameplay. In other words, this is the best-supported answer to “What are the intro songs in Tales from the Borderlands?” rather than a claim that the game contains only six musical cues.
A 2015 Steam community post said the original game’s soundtrack had not been released as an album at that time (Steam community discussion). That dated comment does not establish current soundtrack availability. A release associated with the later New Tales from the Borderlands is for a different game and should not be confused with the original’s songs.
