Tales of the Shire has six Shared Meal locations. Home is available from the start; the other five require friendship milestones, a quest and landmark interaction, or exploration. Here’s the unlock route for each, based on the venue instructions in Dexerto’s guide, updated August 1, 2025.
All Shared Meal locations and unlock requirements
| Location | How to unlock it | Requirement type |
|---|---|---|
| Home | Use the writing desk to arrange a Shared Meal, invite two friends, and select Home. | Available from the start |
| Delphinium’s Rooftop | Reach friendship level 3 with Delphinium, then speak with her when she offers the use of her table. | Friendship milestone and conversation |
| Mooma’s Island | Reach friendship level 3 with Daisy Took to unlock the “A Missing Mooma” quest line. Find the Oliphaunt on the northern island east of Sandyman and interact with it to unlock the meeting place. | Friendship, quest, and landmark interaction |
| The Green Dragon | Reach friendship level 3 with Lily Cotton. Speak with her after she asks to chat to receive access to the table. | Friendship milestone and conversation |
| The Ivy Bush Inn | Reach friendship level 3 with Marigold Potts, then speak with her to unlock the table. | Friendship milestone and conversation |
| The Three Farthing Stone | Find the stone near the upper-right of the map, just southeast of Old Noakes’ home. Follow the path from his house and interact with or observe the stone. | Exploration and landmark interaction |
The six-location list and unlock steps above are reported by Dexerto’s secondary walkthrough; they are not an official developer checklist.
Which unlocks need more than a conversation?
Friendship followed by a conversation
For Delphinium’s Rooftop, the Green Dragon, and the Ivy Bush Inn, the guide’s route is a level 3 friendship with Delphinium, Lily Cotton, or Marigold Potts, respectively, followed by speaking with that character. Check in with the relevant person once you reach the milestone rather than relying on the friendship level alone.
Daisy Took, “A Missing Mooma,” and the Oliphaunt
Mooma’s Island has a longer sequence: reach friendship level 3 with Daisy Took, pursue the “A Missing Mooma” quest line, then locate and interact with the Oliphaunt on the northern island east of Sandyman. The landmark interaction is part of this unlock route.

How Shared Meals fit into friendship
Shared Meals are part of the game’s relationship system, not just a way to choose a venue. In a feature published September 23, 2024, Calliope Ryder, Lead Game Producer at Wētā Workshop, described meals as drawing on what players learn about individual characters’ likes and tastes. Ryder also wrote: “Impress your guests and they might help you learn more skills or share secret locations only the locals would know.” Read Ryder’s feature on Xbox Wire. The PlayStation Store likewise describes Shared Meals as a way to build relationships, but neither official description sets out the six venue-specific unlock steps.

- Set in the peaceful village of Bywater, near Hobbiton, players create and personalize their own Hobbit character, engaging in activities such as cooking, fishing, foraging, gardening, and home decorating. The game features a grid-free decorating system, allowing for creative freedom in designing your Hobbit home. With a focus on relaxation and community building, players can build relationships with fellow Hobbits and contribute to the growth of Bywater. The game is set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, offering a tranquil experience without combat or major conflicts.
If a location is still unavailable
- For Delphinium, Lily Cotton, or Marigold Potts, confirm the friendship level 3 requirement and speak to that character.
- For Mooma’s Island, check that you have reached level 3 with Daisy Took, started the “A Missing Mooma” quest line, and interacted with the Oliphaunt at the stated island location.
- For the Three Farthing Stone, visit the landmark near Old Noakes’ home and interact with or observe it.
A player discussion included a report that only Home appeared in the meal choices despite other locations being unlocked, but that is one player’s account, not evidence of a widespread menu bug. The available guide does not establish how quickly unlocks appear in the menu or give a separate fix for that report.
