Who was named Finals MVP?
The report identifies Team Liquid jungler Brandon “Josedeodo” Villegas as the Kia Finals MVP. It reproduces a congratulatory message attributed to the LCS, but the original social post was not opened for verification.
Why was Team Liquid’s win framed as an upset?
Insider Gaming’s upset framing rests on the teams’ reported results earlier in 2026: LYON had won both Lock-In and Spring, while the rebuilt Team Liquid roster finished fourth at Lock-In before improving during the year. The article also says LYON placed third at MSI 2026, challenging eventual champion Hanwha Life Esports. These season and tournament details are reported by Insider Gaming and were not independently established by the reviewed official schedule page.

How did the teams reach the final?
Insider Gaming says LYON arrived at the final after losing 3–1 to Cloud9 in the upper bracket. Riot’s schedule page also displayed LYON 3–1 Cloud9 under the relative label “Yesterday” in the page capture reviewed on October 5, 2026; that capture did not provide an absolute date for the label.
The available account gives less detail about Team Liquid’s route through the bracket. It describes the team’s improvement across the year, but does not supply a full set of playoff results in the material reviewed here.
