The TECNO Pocket Go is a Windows gaming PC built into a controller, with no built-in screen. Its intended display is the separate Pocket Vision glasses, which show conventional PC games on a large virtual screen. Despite TECNO’s “AR gaming handheld” label, available hands-on evidence describes a wearable display—not a system that places game characters into the room. You can also connect the Pocket Go to a conventional monitor.
What the Pocket Go is—and what you need to use it
The system has three possible parts: the Pocket Go itself, Pocket Vision glasses, and optional peripherals or an external display. TECNO describes the Pocket Go as a Windows 11 gaming handheld; its official product page lists an AMD Ryzen processor, integrated Radeon graphics, memory, storage, cooling and a replaceable battery inside the controller-shaped unit (TECNO Pocket Go).
- Pocket Go: the computer and game controls, including sticks, triggers and face buttons. It has no integrated display.
- Pocket Vision: the glasses connect over USB-C and act as the display, presenting a virtual screen in front of the wearer.
- Optional setup: hands-on coverage reports that the Pocket Go can connect to a conventional monitor and be used with a keyboard and mouse (Android Authority’s hands-on review).
The basic glasses setup is Pocket Go to USB-C video to Pocket Vision to virtual game screen. If the glasses are unavailable or uncomfortable, an external monitor is an alternative, but the Pocket Go is not a conventional handheld when used without either display.
Does it provide genuine augmented-reality gaming?
Not in the sense many people mean by spatial AR. TECNO promotes the product with terms such as “AR handheld” and “6D immersive gaming,” and the glasses include head-tracking features. But the hands-on review found an experience closer to playing a regular PC game on a private wearable monitor than seeing game objects mapped into the surrounding room (Android Authority).

The glasses let some of the real environment remain visible, but transparency is not the same as world-aware gameplay. Available evidence does not establish room mapping, real-world occlusion, or Pokémon Go-style interaction with characters placed in the environment. The clearest description is a screenless Windows handheld paired with a head-tracked virtual display. Ordinary games shown through the glasses remain ordinary PC games on a virtual screen.
Specifications: what is confirmed, and what varies
TECNO’s product page and reporting on campaign or released configurations do not describe one uniform specification for every Pocket Go. In particular, the official page refers to both Ryzen 7 8840U and optional Ryzen 7 8840HS wording. Check the exact configuration being offered rather than assuming every unit has the same processor, memory or storage.

Which games can it play?
Because the Pocket Go runs Windows 11, it is not limited to a TECNO game catalog. Hands-on coverage describes it running games through Steam, Epic Games and EA Play, as well as other compatible Windows software (Android Authority). That means the glasses can serve as the display for compatible PC games; it does not mean those games have AR-specific features.

What hands-on gaming results show
Android Authority reported that EA FC 24 and Forza Horizon 5 played smoothly in its testing. In its Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark at 1080p with High texture quality, average performance was below 30 frames per second, with some choppiness in demanding scenes (Android Authority). These are one publication’s hands-on observations, not universal benchmark guarantees for every configuration.
The same reviewer said the fan became audible quickly under load and the unit felt warm after roughly 20 minutes, though not uncomfortably hot. The reviewer did not observe major performance drops over the tested play sessions. Expect game-dependent performance and fan noise from a compact PC using integrated graphics; broad claims that it runs every demanding game smoothly are not supported by those results.
Battery life: a short hands-on result, not a rating
In Android Authority’s test, starting EA FC 24 at full charge left the battery below 10% after approximately 65 minutes of total play. The reviewer reported that performance reduction began only after charge fell below roughly 15%. With the included 65W charger and the device not in use, a refill took about 90 minutes; while gaming and charging, the battery still declined, but more slowly (Android Authority).
Those figures describe one reviewer’s test, not guaranteed runtime or a standardized battery rating. Game load, settings, power mode, display brightness and battery condition can change endurance. A replaceable battery may help in principle, but the accessible official information does not establish a current sales channel for spare batteries.

What the glasses look and feel like in use
TECNO’s “215-inch” claim is an equivalent image size at a six-meter viewing distance, not a literal 215-inch screen. Android Authority found the practical impression closer to sitting a couple of feet from a 27-inch desktop monitor than watching a cinema-sized image from across a room (TECNO; Android Authority).
The reviewer described the OLED image as sharp and colorful, but some surroundings remained visible. Comfort varied with face shape and head size; the glasses were conspicuous and visor-like. The integrated speakers leaked sound and were not especially impressive in that review. Although TECNO advertises head-tracking and other immersive features, the reviewer did not clearly feel the glasses’ advertised vibration in the games tested (Android Authority).
A large private display can suit seated travel, a small room or reclining play, and it avoids holding a screen in front of the face. It is harder to share than a monitor, and wearing it in public may feel awkward. Treat “on the move” as portable play while stationary: the glasses are not appropriate for walking, cycling or other activities requiring full awareness of the surroundings.

Windows is designed for touch, mouse and keyboard input, not just a gamepad. Android Authority found TECNO’s custom button mappings for cursor movement and desktop interaction inconsistent, and its Pocket Box launcher—which aims to make Windows feel more console-like—rough around the edges. The reviewer needed a wireless keyboard and mouse to connect to Wi-Fi and install Steam; once a game was running, the built-in controls were more suitable (Android Authority).

This makes the Pocket Go more appealing to someone comfortable configuring a Windows handheld than to someone expecting the immediate simplicity of a console. The lack of a touchscreen also matters when a launcher, sign-in page or settings screen is awkward to control with the gamepad.

Hands-on coverage reports that the Pocket Go can connect to a conventional monitor over USB-C and work as a small Windows PC with keyboard and mouse (Android Authority). That offers a fallback if the glasses are damaged or do not suit you, but it requires carrying or finding another display. The same coverage reports that Pocket Vision glasses can work with compatible phones, Nintendo Switch hardware and other computers when those devices provide suitable USB-C video output. Compatibility should not be inferred from the connector shape alone.
Price and availability: historical campaign figures are not current retail prices
The official TECNO product page remains available, and the original Kickstarter campaign page can still be accessed. However, the accessible official information does not confirm a current standard retail price, broad regional availability or reliable present-day fulfillment status. Do not treat an old campaign price as today’s store price.
Android Authority reported in January 2025 that Kickstarter bundle pricing was about $869 for a 16GB/512GB configuration and $1,049 for a 32GB/1TB option, and that TECNO had said post-campaign pricing could reach $1,699 (Android Authority). These are historical reported figures, not verified current retail offers. Kickstarter explains that pledges help fund projects and delivery timing varies by project; a campaign pledge is not the same as purchasing an in-stock retail product (Pocket Go Kickstarter campaign).

Who should consider the Pocket Go?
The format is most compelling if the wearable display is the point: you want a large private virtual screen, prefer holding a controller without a screen attached, and are willing to configure Windows and play seated or stationary. The replaceable-battery design and ability to connect a monitor may also matter to buyers who want a small PC that can change roles.
It is a poor fit if you want real-world spatial AR games, a built-in display, long unplugged gaming sessions, straightforward console-style setup, or clearly established mainstream retail support. Comfort, prescription fit, audio leakage and the need for a fallback display are practical buying considerations, not minor details.

Compare the cost of the complete Pocket Go-and-glasses setup with the total cost of a handheld and compatible glasses, not just the controller-shaped PC against another handheld. Include any display, input devices and accessories needed for the setup you actually intend to use.
