Telethon 2026: Emma Memma Visits Teach, Speak, Hear Ahead of Perth Weekend

Emma Memma and fellow performer Elvin Melvin visited children and families at Teach, Speak, Hear (TSH) ahead of Telethon 2026, scheduled for 17–18 October at RAC Arena in Perth. The visit brought together a performer whose show incorporates Auslan and key word sign and families whose children have hearing loss or other support needs; the experiences described belong to the children and families quoted, not a claim of clinical benefit.

What happened at Teach, Speak, Hear

In a report published by The West Australian on 3 October 2026, Caitlin Vinci described Emma Memma and Elvin Melvin meeting children and families at TSH, a Telethon beneficiary, two weeks before the main event. The performers’ visit gave families a chance to meet an act their children already knew and to see the signing that is part of Emma Memma’s performance.

Emma said more dancers who sign would join this year’s team. “This time, we’re bringing over our biggest Emma Memma team yet. We’ve got more of our dancers coming who also sign as part of the show.”

She also reflected on how the scale of Telethon became clear to her: “Being from the East coast, we never really understood how big and important this was for children right across the State,” she said. She described returning as “like the biggest, giant, most exciting sleepover where everyone has a ball and raises heaps of money.”
