Terraria 1.4.5.0 added nine whips. Five are listed as craftable, while three are reported as boss drops; the remaining whip, Constellation, is crafted from Stardust Fragments. Below are the reported recipes and routes, with the important version caveat that the acquisition details come from a guide updated January 29, 2026, and later changes have not been independently confirmed here.

The official Terraria Wiki’s surfaced summary confirms the nine-whip set, but the recipes and routes in this table are those reported by Pro Game Guides in its January 29, 2026 update; they have not been independently verified here. Craftable whips: recipes and progression
Cobwhip
Combine 10 Wood and 30 Cobweb at a Loom. The guide describes this as an early, start-of-game recipe and says Cobwebs can be found in caves.
Slime Whip
Use 50 Gel at a Solidifier. The cited guide lists it as available after defeating King Slime.

Soulscourge and Vasculash
Both recipes use an Iron or Lead Anvil. Soulscourge requires 12 Demonite Bars and is tied to the Corruption world route; Vasculash requires 12 Crimtane Bars and is tied to the Crimson route. The guide associates these materials with defeating the Eye of Cthulhu in the corresponding world evil.
Starcrash
At an Iron or Lead Anvil, combine 20 Meteorite Bars, 10 Chain, and 10 Fallen Stars. The cited guide says meteorite sites become available after breaking a Shadow Orb or Crimson Heart (the guide’s table refers to an Orb or Heart).

Constellation
Craft it at an Ancient Manipulator from 18 Stardust Fragments. The guide links the fragments to the Stardust Pillar during Lunar Events, making this an endgame progression route.
Whips obtained from bosses
Vulgar Display of Flower
The guide lists Vulgar Display of Flower as a Plantera drop from the Underground Jungle and says it is not craftable. It reports a 12.5% chance, but that rate has not been verified against current item data, so treat it as unconfirmed rather than a guaranteed current drop rate.

Electric Eel
Electric Eel is listed as a Duke Fishron drop and not craftable. To reach that encounter, fish at the Ocean using a Truffle Worm as bait, according to the cited guide.
Possession
Possession is listed as a Moon Lord drop and not craftable. The cited guide does not specify a drop chance.

Version caveat for these recipes and drops
The available official Terraria Wiki summaries say the nine whips arrived in 1.4.5.0 and that version 1.4.5.4 restored whip hitboxes to match 1.4.4 while adjusting backswing visuals for damage consistency. That hitbox note does not establish whether recipes, drop rates, or acquisition conditions changed in 1.4.5.7 or later updates. Because the specific routes above come from a January 2026 secondary guide, check current in-game recipes and patch information if they do not match your version.
