Teamfight Tactics patch 14.17, published by Riot Games on August 27, 2024, introduced the experimental PvE mode Tocker’s Trials and made broad adjustments to champions, traits, Augments, items, and Charms. Riot added a separate mid-patch bug-fix update on August 29. These notes document that 2024 release; they do not establish what is available or balanced in the live game today.
What changed in TFT patch 14.17?
Riot framed the balance direction as buffing champions, Augments, and traits that were underperforming while reducing the raw stats of core items to limit their scaling power. The credited author of the English-language notes was Rodger “Riot Prism” Caudill, who wrote: “With 14.17 we’re buffing just about everything that hasn’t been able to make enough mayhem, whether that’s champions, Augments, or traits.”
The patch touched several parts of the game rather than centering on one champion or composition:
- Traits and units: Riot adjusted multiple traits and champions as part of the effort to improve underperforming options.
- Augments: The notes include changes to Augments alongside champion and trait adjustments.
- Items: Riot reduced health on support items from 250 to 150. Knight’s Vow was excluded from that general reduction and retained 50 base health.
- Charms: The patch included Charm changes as well as new Charms.
- Bug fixes: The August 27 notes also listed fixes, followed by further corrections in the August 29 update.
Those examples are not a complete balance list. For every champion, trait, item, Augment, and Charm value, see Riot’s complete TFT patch 14.17 notes. Riot’s stated goals describe its intended direction; the notes do not provide independent competitive-outcome statistics.

What is Tocker’s Trials?
Tocker’s Trials was introduced in patch 14.17 as TFT’s first experimental PvE mode. In Riot’s 2024 announcement, a run consisted of 30 rounds, six bosses, and three lives. Players earned points based on performance, and completing normal mode opened a more challenging Chaos Mode.
These details describe the mode as announced with patch 14.17. The 2024 patch notes do not establish whether Tocker’s Trials is available today.

What did the 14.17 mid-patch update fix?
Riot dated a separate update to August 29, two days after the original release. It addressed bugs that had escaped the August 27 patch, including:
- Pyro stats persisting incorrectly.
- Ryze with Static Shiv affecting allies during his ability cast.
- A Tocker’s Trials Charm reroll issue that could make a Charm unbuyable while deducting gold on each click.
Riot’s original notes contain the full list of fixes and the complete change-by-change record for both dates.
