For a varied Capcom collection on PS3, start with Ultra Street Fighter IV for competitive depth, Devil May Cry 4 for stylish action, and Resident Evil 5 for action-horror with a co-op focus. The best choice depends on whether you want versus play, character-action combat, horror, or a larger action RPG; no single title is the objective winner.
How to choose among Capcom’s PS3 games
Capcom’s PlayStation 3 catalogue covers several very different kinds of play. The picks below are organized by what they offer, not by a sales-based ranking. Sales figures establish the reach of a title across its listed platforms, not its PS3-only sales or its quality. Historical promotional selections likewise show that Capcom or PlayStation featured a game, not that it won a neutral award or remains available digitally.

Best Capcom PS3 games by what you want to play
For a competitive fighter: Ultra Street Fighter IV
Ultra Street Fighter IV is the clearest pick here if you want a fighting game built around versus play and room to improve. Capcom lists it for PS3 and reports 2.50 million units across the title’s listed platforms in its current catalogue table; that is not a PS3-only figure. Capcom USA also included it in a historical Best of PS3 promotion, and PlayStation featured it in its May 2016 Best of PS3 promotion. Those promotions are historical recognition, not evidence of current digital availability. Capcom’s catalogue table and PlayStation’s 2016 promotion provide the relevant platform context.
Keep the editions distinct: GamesRadar+’s retrospective praise for accessible play, room for depth, a 39-fighter roster, and the Focus Attack/dash-cancel system refers to Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, not Ultra Street Fighter IV. GamesRadar+ placed that Arcade Edition at number 10 in its list of 25 best PS3 games. That is a useful quality signal for the series’ PS3-era fighting design, but it is not a review of the Ultra edition. GamesRadar+’s PS3 list discusses the Arcade Edition.

- In a frantic battle to the checkered flag, Sonic and friends speed around tracks set in mediaeval castle ramparts, lush rainforests and bustling cities, all taken from the visually rich and varied universes of Sonic and SEGA.
- Secret short cuts, swift handling and avoiding strategically placed obstacles are certainly the best way to get to the top of the podium…
- Each character has a specific All Star move – such as Super Sonic, Banana Blitz and Tails Tornado – that allows a quick way for competitors to get back into the race!
- Power ups and weapons can also be collected around the tracks and used against the opposition to ensure they don’t become a threat to that number one position.
- Battle it out in single or multiplayer mode, allowing up to four friends to race in frantic split-screen action, or up to eight players to compete online in the ultimate racing showdown.
For stylish character action: Devil May Cry 4
Devil May Cry 4 is the Capcom PS3 choice for players drawn to stylish character action rather than a fighter or horror game. Capcom lists the PS3 release and reports 3.00 million units across the title’s listed platforms in its current catalogue table. Do not read that as a PS3 sales total. Capcom’s Best of PS3 promotion also featured the separate Devil May Cry HD Collection and DmC: Devil May Cry; those are other releases, not editions of Devil May Cry 4. Capcom’s catalogue table confirms the platform listing and reported total, while Capcom USA’s promotion announcement names its featured games.
For action-horror with a co-op orientation: Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 5 belongs on a PS3 shortlist if you want action-horror and a co-op-oriented experience. Capcom’s current catalogue table lists its PS3 release and reports 10.90 million units across all platforms listed for the title—not PS3 sales alone. That scale suggests broad commercial reach, but it does not establish that this is the best Resident Evil game or the strongest fit for someone seeking a primarily horror-focused experience. Capcom’s catalogue table supplies the platform and sales context.
Rank #2
- Twice the fun: Play as both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic in the ultimate Sonic experience. Master the moves of Classic Sonic in the side scrolling 2D tracks and take on Modern Sonic in the stunning 3D tracks.
- The best just got better: Chosen from three eras of Sonic in HD gaming, a variety of iconic environments have been revisited, recreated and fully re-imagined with stunning results.
- Exclusive Nintendo 3DS content: With new and exclusive environments including an unlockable 'special stage', there's a whole new universe of adventures. Immerse yourself in Sonic's world like never before.
For a horror/action hybrid: Resident Evil Revelations
Resident Evil Revelations offers another route into the series for players choosing between horror and action. Capcom lists a PS3 version and reports 3.10 million units across the title’s listed platforms. Capcom USA also included the game in its historical PSN Best of PS3 selection. The inclusion records a past promotion, not a guarantee that the game is currently sold through a PS3 digital store in your region. Capcom’s catalogue table and Capcom USA’s announcement identify the platform and promotion.
For exploration and action role-playing: Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is the pick for a larger action-RPG experience with exploration. Be precise about the edition: Capcom’s historical PSN list names Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, while its current catalogue table separately lists Dragon’s Dogma for PS3 and reports 1.30 million units across that title’s listed platforms. That figure should not be presented as sales of Dark Arisen specifically. Capcom USA’s promotion announcement names Dark Arisen; Capcom’s catalogue table supplies the distinct Dragon’s Dogma listing.
Rank #3
- The Largest Collection of Classic SEGA Titles. Players will trip back in time with favorites including Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Columns, Eco the Dolphin and four titles from the Phantasy Star series, to name a few.
- Several Unlockable Titles. Included in the collection are arcade favorites such as Congo Bongo, Altered Beast, Zaxxon and more.
- All Titles Upgraded to Hi-Def. The classic 2D style never looked so good! Each title has been converted to hi-def (720p) and will be a blast to play using the intuitive controls of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems.
- Massive Multiplayer Options. Friends can play the 2-Player classics together in select games from the same console at home.
For science-fiction action: Lost Planet 2
Lost Planet 2 adds a science-fiction action option to the shortlist. Capcom lists a PS3 release and reports 2.20 million units across the title’s listed platforms in its current catalogue table. The available evidence here supports its platform and commercial context, but not a detailed comparative verdict about its mechanics or quality. Capcom’s catalogue table is the source for those figures.
What the PS3-era promotions tell you—and what they do not
Capcom USA’s historical Best of PS3 announcement featured Devil May Cry HD Collection, DmC: Devil May Cry, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, Remember Me, Resident Evil Revelations, and Street Fighter X Tekken. PlayStation’s May 2016 Best of PS3 promotion included Ultra Street Fighter IV, DMC Devil May Cry, Street Fighter X Tekken, and DMC HD Collection in its categories. These lists are useful records of games that received platform or publisher promotion, but they are not quality rankings and do not establish what is available to buy now. Capcom USA’s announcement and PlayStation’s 2016 post document those historical selections.

Buying a physical PS3 copy
Used copies may turn up at local game shops or online marketplaces, but availability and prices change. GamesRadar+ notes that most PS3 games are region-free, with exceptions; check the specific game and version rather than assuming every disc will work on your console. GamesRadar+’s PS3 guide discusses physical sourcing and regional exceptions.
