The Best Corsair Gaming Headset: A Buyer’s Guide

The VIRTUOSO MAX is Corsair’s most complete premium headset, but the HS35 v3, HS80 RGB Wireless and HS65 Surround fit different budgets and platforms.

For most PC and PlayStation players who want Corsair’s most complete feature set, choose the VIRTUOSO MAX WIRELESS. It combines 2.4GHz and Bluetooth audio, active noise cancellation, transparency mode and a detachable microphone. For less money and less software fuss, the HS35 v3 Wireless is the better value; for a wired PC setup, consider the HS65 Surround. Xbox buyers should choose a headset explicitly designated for Xbox—wireless support does not carry across every Corsair variant.

Best Corsair headsets at a glance

Model Best for Connection and platform notes Main trade-off
VIRTUOSO MAX WIRELESS Premium PC and PlayStation use; ANC and game-plus-phone audio 2.4GHz and Bluetooth; Corsair advertises simultaneous audio Expensive and comparatively heavy; battery figures on Corsair’s page conflict
VIRTUOSO MAX WIRELESS for Xbox Premium Xbox wireless use Dedicated Xbox variant; verify the exact model Premium pricing may be unnecessary if you do not need its feature set
HS35 v3 Wireless Value, comfort and simple multi-device use 2.4GHz, Bluetooth and USB wired; TechRadar lists PC, PlayStation, Switch and mobile Little customization; no simultaneous wireless audio
HS80 RGB Wireless PC players prioritizing microphone features Wireless and USB wired; Corsair lists PC and PS4/PS5, not Xbox or Bluetooth Less flexible for phones and consoles outside its listed support
HS80 MAX Wireless PC/PlayStation wireless gaming with a suspension headband Bluetooth plus USB wireless; Xbox has a separate version Bluetooth and dongle audio cannot be used simultaneously, according to RTINGS
VOID Wireless v2 Midrange wireless alternative Check Corsair’s compatibility table for the exact connection and platform Not the premium ANC or dual-wireless option
HS65 Surround Wired PC gaming on a budget 3.5mm analog and USB; wired operation avoids battery management Cable-bound and less convenient for mobile or couch gaming

Price is volatile and regional. In US listings observed August 18, 2026, Corsair showed the VIRTUOSO MAX at $249.99, reduced from $299.99; the HS80 RGB Wireless at $159.99; and HS65 Surround at $69.99, with a separate temporary $39.99 promotion shown in Corsair buying-guide results. TechRadar stated $79.99 for HS35 v3 Wireless and linked a temporary $59.99 offer. These are dated signals, not guaranteed current prices. Corsair’s comparison page is useful for checking current variants and listings.

Which Corsair headset should you buy?

VIRTUOSO MAX WIRELESS: best overall for premium PC and PlayStation setups

This is the strongest all-round pick when you want one headset for gaming and everyday listening. Corsair lists 50mm graphene drivers, Dolby Atmos, SoundID personalization, ANC, transparency mode, a detachable microphone and a metal-and-memory-foam design. The graphene specification is not, by itself, proof of superior sound; choose it for the broader feature package, not the driver material alone.

Its most practical advantage over many wireless gaming headsets is Corsair’s advertised simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth audio. That can let you hear a phone call or other Bluetooth audio while game sound comes through the wireless receiver. The Xbox version is a distinct product: Corsair says the standard model works with Xbox in wired mode, while the licensed Xbox variant is the wireless choice. Check the exact VIRTUOSO MAX listing before ordering.

HS35 v3 Wireless: best value and simplest wireless pick

TechRadar’s review describes a 250g headset with 2.4GHz, Bluetooth 5.2 and USB wired modes, a detachable microphone, and compatibility with PC, PlayStation, Switch and mobile. The review reports a 30-hour battery life and praised comfort, audio and microphone performance during its six-week review. These are reviewer-reported results, not a universal guarantee of comfort or runtime. The model is particularly appealing if you do not want an iCUE layer.

Its simplicity comes with real omissions: TechRadar notes no EQ profiles, RGB, sidetone control, volume wheel or simultaneous wireless connections. Choose it for straightforward use, not for fine tuning or mixing phone and game audio. Read TechRadar’s HS35 v3 review for its tested impressions.

HS80 RGB Wireless: microphone-oriented PC option

The standard HS80 RGB Wireless is a sensible PC-focused choice if you want wireless or USB-wired operation and Corsair’s spatial-audio features without paying for the VIRTUOSO MAX’s ANC and dual wireless. Corsair positions its microphone as high clarity and lists a suspension-style comfort headband. It is not a universal microphone winner: published opinions differ by reviewer, platform and processing, including a critical PS5 assessment of the HS80 MAX microphone. Treat “best mic” as a use-case choice rather than a settled ranking.

The standard HS80 RGB Wireless is not the Xbox model and does not add Bluetooth convenience. If you use Xbox, look at the Xbox-designated HS80 MAX instead. Corsair’s HS80 RGB Wireless listing shows its feature positioning and US price snapshot.

HS80 MAX Wireless: premium-feeling alternative, but not for dual-audio needs

Consider the HS80 MAX if you mainly play on PC or PlayStation, want a suspension headband and Dolby Atmos, and find it well below the VIRTUOSO MAX’s price. RTINGS reports that it is well built and has a better microphone than some competing models, but it cannot play Bluetooth and USB-dongle audio simultaneously. Its Xbox-specific version is separate. See RTINGS’ HS80 MAX review for that limitation and comparative context.

HS65 Surround: wired value for PC

If you play at a desk and do not need wireless, the HS65 Surround avoids charging and connection-management hassles while offering analog and USB connectivity and PC-focused surround features. Corsair’s comparison listing showed $69.99, while a temporary buying-guide promotion showed $39.99 in the August 18, 2026 price snapshot. The lower figure makes the value case stronger; at a higher price, compare current wireless offers before buying. Tom’s Guide’s HS65 Surround review found it competitive for PC gaming in its price class.

Check compatibility before choosing a model

Corsair headset names are easy to confuse: standard, MAX, RGB and Xbox-designated versions can have different connections and platform support. A headset working when plugged into a controller does not mean its USB wireless receiver works on Xbox. Corsair’s compatibility and console-support table distinguishes platforms and connection modes; confirm the exact model name and connection you intend to use.

Buyer or model What to check
Xbox wireless buyer Choose an Xbox-designated HS80 MAX, VOID v2 MAX or VIRTUOSO MAX. Do not assume the standard PC/PlayStation wireless model’s USB receiver will work.
PC or PlayStation buyer considering HS80 RGB Wireless Standard HS80 RGB Wireless is listed for PC and PS4/PS5; it is not the Xbox or Bluetooth option.
HS80 MAX buyer Standard model is PC/PlayStation-oriented with Bluetooth; the Xbox variant adds Xbox support.
Switch or mobile buyer Check whether the chosen model supports the specific mode you need: Bluetooth, USB receiver, or 3.5mm analog. Compatibility in one mode does not establish support in another.
HS55 Wireless or VIRTUOSO RGB XT buyer These are distinct alternatives with broader compatibility claims in Corsair’s table; check that table for the exact platform and connection before purchase.

Understand the connection before you buy

2.4GHz wireless

A USB receiver-based 2.4GHz connection is generally the gaming-focused wireless mode, but receiver compatibility is model- and console-dependent. It is not interchangeable across the Corsair range. Confirm both that the headset supports your platform and that the receiver mode you plan to use is listed.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth is useful for phones, tablets and general listening, but its presence does not mean it can mix with game audio from a USB receiver. The HS80 MAX is a documented example where those sources cannot be used at once; Corsair advertises simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth for VIRTUOSO MAX. If phone calls during a PC game matter, verify simultaneous operation specifically rather than shopping by “Bluetooth” alone.

USB wired and 3.5mm analog

USB wired mode can give a direct PC connection and may expose software features, but it should not be assumed to work on every console. A 3.5mm analog cable is often the most broadly useful fallback for controllers and compatible mobile devices, and it eliminates battery concerns, though wireless convenience and some software features may be lost. Use Corsair’s compatibility table for each exact model and mode.

Sound, microphone and comfort: what matters in practice

Spatial audio is optional, not an automatic upgrade

Stereo can provide convincing positional cues. Dolby Atmos, Windows spatial audio, console processing and iCUE processing can overlap; stacking multiple virtual-surround layers may make sound less natural. Try stereo against one spatial mode in the games you play, and keep the one that makes cues clearer to you. Corsair lists Atmos support on selected models, including VIRTUOSO MAX and HS80 RGB Wireless, but that is not a guarantee of a competitive advantage.

Microphone quality depends on the setup

Voice clarity, background-noise rejection, sidetone, mute behavior and microphone placement matter more than a marketing label. Corsair calls the VIRTUOSO MAX mic “broadcast-grade” and supports NVIDIA Broadcast on compatible PC setups; Broadcast requires a compatible GeForce RTX graphics card. Software noise reduction changes the result, so a PC recording with processing should not be treated as a prediction of raw console mic quality. The HS80 line is a strong candidate for mic-focused PC use, but third-party evaluations are not unanimous.

  • Soft memory foam earpads with your choice of premium passive noise-canceling leatherette or soft, breathable velour for supreme comfort.

Comfort is a fit question, not just a weight number

TechRadar reports the HS35 v3 weighs 250g and praised its floating headband and cushioned cups during its review. Corsair lists the VIRTUOSO MAX at 0.412kg and describes memory-foam cushions and an aluminum construction. A premium build is not automatically more comfortable: clamp, ear-cup depth, heat, glasses, and pressure from the headband vary by person. If possible, buy from a retailer with a usable return policy, particularly for long-session use.

Battery life and iCUE trade-offs

Read battery figures with their conditions

Corsair’s VIRTUOSO MAX page advertises up to 60 hours with RGB off, yet its technical specifications separately state up to 30 hours. The page does not reconcile those two figures. Treat either as a manufacturer claim rather than a guaranteed runtime; RGB, ANC, Bluetooth activity, volume and usage conditions affect results. TechRadar reports 30 hours for HS35 v3, likewise not a guarantee for every listening pattern. The available cited material does not establish comparable independent battery measurements for all models, so raw advertised numbers do not produce a reliable ranking.

iCUE is useful if you want control—and unnecessary friction if you do not

On supported products, Corsair describes iCUE controls for EQ, SoundID, sidetone, RGB, device management and related audio features. Those controls are most useful to PC players who want to tune sound or save settings. Console buyers may not have access to the full feature set from the console, and Corsair says headset firmware updates are performed through iCUE on a Windows PC. If you want plug-and-play simplicity, HS35 v3’s lack of a software requirement is an advantage; if you want advanced customization, verify which features are available on your platform.

Choose by budget and use case

  • Under $75: Look for HS65 Surround if wired PC play suits you and its current price is competitive. At a promotion near $39.99 it is more compelling than at its $69.99 listed price in the dated US snapshot.
  • Around $75–$125: HS35 v3 Wireless is the straightforward value choice; VOID Wireless v2 is another Corsair wireless option when discounted, with a reported $89.99 sale signal versus $129.99 original in the dated snapshot.
  • Around $125–$200: Compare HS80 MAX and HS80 RGB Wireless by platform, microphone needs and simultaneous-audio requirement. The HS80 MAX appeared at $119.99 in a temporary promotion versus $189.99 original; HS80 RGB Wireless was listed at $159.99. Those prices were observed August 18, 2026, not guaranteed offers.
  • $200 and above: Choose VIRTUOSO MAX if ANC, transparency, detachable mic and dual wireless justify the premium. Its US listing showed $249.99 versus $299.99 on August 18, 2026.

When a Corsair alternative is a better fit

If simultaneous Bluetooth-plus-dongle audio or broader software controls are essential but a Corsair option does not meet your needs, RTINGS identifies SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless as a more flexible alternative with simultaneous connectivity and analog support. TechRadar compares HS35 v3’s simplicity with software-equipped options such as Turtle Beach Stealth 500 and JBL Quantum 360X. These are alternatives to consider, not claims that one is universally superior; platform variant and current price still matter.
